Honda Rancher 420 | Not Shifting | Angle Sensor Location

I recently dealt with the “no shift” issue.
I was ready to replace both the angle sensor and the shift motor, but both units checked out as good on the bench.
So, I charged the battery.
Been shifting fine for months.

No. Turns out it was simply my battery. I have had one other “won’t shift” issue since this video and it was the shift motor getting stuck. I took the motor apart, put it back together and it’s been shifting like a champ ever since.

My problem was low battery. I had to rev a bit to shift from R to neutral. Put a nrw Noco lithoum as the original was 10urs old.

They don’t like low batteries. I just had another issue and it was sticking brushes in the shift motor.

Do you know if there is a way to convert these 420s to a standard foot shift? I know on the 2000s ranchers and foremans you could but I can't find anything on the 420s

did your gear light use to blink whenever u turned it on?

Yes. I don’t remember the sequences and what they mean, but I got shift motor issues.
