what is heating minimum outside temperature for the system,, i have heat pump goodman the machine works only to 32 f outside and run emergency heat

This is a really good question! So ALL heat pumps have a temperature sensor outside on the coil that tells the heat pump when the coil temperature is below freezing. When the sensor is below freezing it makes the heat pump go into defrost and the electric heat or secondary heat kicks on. But this is only temporary until the coil temperature sensor is above freezing. Once this happens then the heat pump starts heating again. These TRANE heat pumps can continue to run well below zero degrees Fahrenheit and still heat your home! Thanks for the question.

When the control board or whatever takes the place of the contractors and capacitors goes out, what does the replacement part cost? (Post warranty)

Thanks for your question! This unit is controlled by a drive. I have only had 1 drive fail and it came bad out of the box. So the failure rate is very very low. But to answer your question, these units haven't been out long enough to have the parts go out of warranty. They come with a 12 year compressor warranty and a 10 year drive warranty and have only been out since 2012. I know the drive will be expensive when it is out of warranty, but I also know the price to change capacitors, contactors, relays etc. really adds up. I would assume it would be close to a wash over the 10-12 year life expectancy of an air conditioner.

So when this drive fails on a Saturday when it’s 105 will parts be available or will it have to be ordered?

Nice Informative Video. Will this model modulate to 25 per cent for all tonnages of the model or only a few like 3 or 2 ton wheeras the 4 and 5 ton would not have the ability to ramp down to 25 per cent?

Thank you, Albert! Yes, all Trane Variable speed compressors have the ability to ramp down to as low as 25% for heat pumps and 30% for non-heat pumps. The ramp percentages with depend on your matched components. Thanks for watching!

@@countryair Thank You. I have been helping friends research variable speed units and it ha s been difficult to get a straight answer on this topic. So the heat pump can modulate down to 25 per cent if matched properly. May I ask if you decide to add a gas furnace to a heat pump would that cause any issues with the efficiency and/or ability to modulate down?

Can this machine run on Solar power? I'm thinking of getting a 10kw enphase battery backup system and am hoping this can run with.my system any thing helps thanks in advance

Hi Jose, good question. The machine runs off a double pole (25-50) amp breaker depending on the size and tonnage. It will pull anywhere from 3-20 amps (outdoor unit). While we aren't as familiar with what solar power can handle, we will say though that most of our customers who have a back up source of power go with at least 20-24kw but this again depends on the size of the home and electrical load of the home. But these are the electrical specifications for the unit. Hope this helps.
