You are correct about protecting the non stick surface of the pan from the handle, unfortunately I hadn't realised this and have a damaged area in the pan. Effectively rubbish now as it's not recommended to use non stick once damaged. I have given up with non stick, I now use anodised aluminium, titanium for ultra light weight (pot mainly very rarely use the fry pan) or when weight not an issue cast iron, my favourite.

Thanks for the review Paul. I had a cheap Wal-Mart folding frypan that was just rubbish. It was much too thin and the coating really wasn't non-stick at all. I upgraded to a MSR folding fry pan but that has a weird plastic button that locks the handle in place. Not that secure and it would likely melt on an open wood fire. The Trangia will be my next purchase.

About to suggest the 25 chopping board to protect inside coating, and you would have a chopping board with you too: but of course you mentioned it. I don't peel potatoes, Vitiman C in skin.! Pity the folding handle does not fold under the base as the pan might then marry up with the 25 kit! Doubtless more to come from you; I look forward to viewing them. Thanks again. P.S. For years I've been using cheapo skillets (frying pans) and detaching the handles- either unscrew or saw off- and just using a pot lifter/grabber/gripper as a handle. No gimmicks, nothing to melt off and you can't beat the price.

Poor finishing, really thin cheap non-stick coating, and the 27 set does not go together very well at all, handle only just fits if you faff about trying different angles, and then add the utility disc, which has to be bought at extra cost !,to stop it scratching the piss poor fry pan.
