I think it's possible for her to have a non racist angle, but I've never been to China and I don't speak Mandarin so I don't know the full story. But I can understand her thinking "well this is a restaurant, not a balcony. We can't let anyone just walk in and start looking out through our windows while other people are just trying to eat and chill." But at the same time the restaurant did not look packed and you guys were not being loud or anything. We deal with this on almost daily. It's called micro-aggression. Much of it is subconscious and the people doing it 'sometimes' don't realize it. Sometimes they do. For example: you're in line and the person in front of you receives a friendly smile, warm conversation etc..then you step up and all of a sudden the person behind the counter frowns or stop smiling, talk to you in short terms (if they talk to you at all), try to rush you etc etc. Yep! Constantly know the feeling.

It's interesting to see people care for more "loyalty" of the friend rather than the fact they were walking around the restaurant, which is atop a luxury hotel, filming out the windows and having a commentary. It's clear that the hostess was telling them to stop doing what they were doing, not kicking them out of the restaurant. It's nice too see that some employees of some establishments will actually stick up for the rules of the place. It's a buffet, if they wanted to see the buffet a hostess would have happily walked them through it explaining things, this is standard. I think they were out of their element, don't realize they were being invasive, the "uncle" was likely lying about his connection to the owner, etc. I think the restaurant hostess handled it well, so go her... And for those that think this is a racial issue, it's not, it's more just an etiquette issue. Raffles, Four Seasons, Aman - they're going to manage their guests the same way, but most people aren't just walking in and meandering about unless they're there to take photos. And it's not a "public venue", it's a private restaurant open to the public, there is a difference. Many restaurants have policies of not filming.

i hate that people think that another race is better. no one is better than the next. everyone has faults in every race. i love all culture. i learn about all. to me if everyone was the same it would be no fun learning about each other cultures. Not everyone acts the same in every race. Some people are friendly and some are not.

I’ve seen black people just become subservient and brush it off when they get told to leave White private establishments by white people (when white people don’t even disclose a reason). The only differing factor is that he has a Black companion with him whereas in other occassions he didn't. When she made a stink of the situation who was she looking at? Go back and take a look at the incident.
