Full discretion, do not mount these under the car unless you are using a proven cooler and one with a fan. Air movement is critical!
To shop transcoolers and transcooler kits click the link below. The trans cooler shown is a Derale 13700 and that is the same included in these kits with fans.

I think a good video would be battery relocation, shut off switch install and more in depth of routing power and ground cables for them.

When mounting under the car and the fans are on the bottom side(towards the ground) it’s ideal to set the fans up to pull. Making a pass or driving down the road the underneath side of the car creates a low pressure area. So pulling will pull air down through the cooler. Then the fan isn’t trying to fight against the low pressure and burning fans up and not cooling to the best of its ability.

That can certainly work. If you can mount the cooler at a little bit of an angle pointing the fan towards the back of the car so ram air can do more of the work when you are moving, that's even better. I mounted a thick 30 row engine oil cooler with a fan and shroud under the back of my Honda when it still had the auto and tilted it back as much as I could without it hanging down, which was around 2 inches. I wired the fan to a 180 degree thermostatic switch, but I don't remember it ever heating up enough to need the fan. As I remember, the temp normally sat at around 150-160 degrees max when driving down the highway on 100 degree days and I think the highest I ever remember seeing it was around 170.

Content Idea. Button and switch layout in a Race Week style car like your Nova. It would be interesting to know how and why you have the switches where you do. Same goes for the buttons like Trans Brake, Bump, Scramble and Line Lock. Great info your sharing, sometimes its tough for us "normal" folks to get the answers your providing.

Great video and ironic timing. Im actually in the process of relocating my cooler to the rear of the car where the muffler would normally be(1990 camaro) and Im having trouble deciding which Derale cooler to run. Which one are you running on the Nova? And do you think I should mount it on the floorboard instead or do you have any experience mounting them in the rear as I'm considering? Just wondering about your personal experience.

I checked my derale cooler just like the one you’ve got in the video and it’s a pull fan only. You can reverse polarity but the fan blades only move air well one way. Which is pulling.

This caught my eye as a potential fix for my 2012 Nissan Rogue, TSB states an additional external cooler is required and the break-fix la cheapa cooler I installed in the recommended location (in front of the rad) just really didn't help all that much. So my question is, even though the underside of the car is a pretty good place for something that will often be on a trailer, what about applications like mine where standing water may be a concern, or just a lot of moisture in general?

I'm going to get one of your coolers when I get to that point. My question is this well be a sand toy but theres always rocks and logs hidden. I have room in front of the rad. Would that be the best placement or bed mount it. I'm just thinking air movement thru the grill will help.

Just my personal experience, I had bought a derale cooler for my 80e and floor mounted it like this and had nothing but heat issues, would never come down below 195 after it got to temp, even tried mounting it up front at an angle underneath the bumper of the truck and still wouldn’t cool down. Bought the tru cool 40k, mounted behind my intercooler and haven’t had an issue since. So I would not reccomend doing this with a 4l80e

At what level would you recommend running a fan with the trans cooler. I’ve been contemplating mounting my cooler in this fashion and currently do not run a fan. Transmission is a AODE, 3200 stall, turbo car making 800 rwhp currently on lower boost and should be in the 900+ range once I finish sorting it out. Thanks!

Im running this cooler under the car mounted horizontally similar to what Doug shows here. Its on a G8 and it tucked up in a pocket where the stock fuel tank used to be. Im seeing temps up close to 250 degress without abusing the car (just cruising around in stop and go traffic). Trans is a 4L80. I added spacers close to an inch and a half to make sure it had space around it for air flow. I also tried reversing the fan. Any ideas on why I cant keep the temp under control? Sensor is mounted in the line between the trans and the cooler.

I have a F150 that has the trans cooler plumbed into the radiator and has it's own heat exchanger up front of it. What is your suggestion then? Do you just block off the radiator port? I would like to boost this truck and relocating the trans cooler is going to have to happen for the intercooler to sit up against everything flat and flush. I was going to just drop it below the radiator behind the bumper in front of the bumper cutout in the center. I am struggling with how to make that happen as I have never done that before.
