It was a sunny June day when I first rolled down the main street of the small town I grew up in Wisconsin, and I can tell you that EVERY head, young or old, turned when I cruised by at 20 mph in 1st gear, with the sun shining through the open hatches and the priceless looks on people’s faces as I drove past. GM brass tried to make a case to the government for saving Pontiac, but in the end it came down to numbers. It was a decision made from the wallet and not from the heart. PS. I heard that GM's plan for Pontiac was to make it like a domestic version of BMW... mostly rear drive cars like the G8 and what became the Cadillac ATS. Too bad.

I am an absolute Pontiac fan. My first car was a 74 Lemans Sport Coupe and I loved it. My cousin lucked up and got his hands on a 73 TA with a Built 455 SD. This was in 81 and he was a complete dumbass and totaled the car. Ive hated him since because thats when I fell In love with the Trans Am. With that said, as much as I know that all TA's were built on the camaro platform, and this creation is beuatiful, I could not have one knowing I would have to title it as a chevrolet Camaro. Just sinful.

I'm going to say this and I'm saying it with pride GM's greatest mistake was letting go of the trans am she is more than American icon she is the embodiment of defiant dreams she is the icon of performance at it's finest. It owns a much-deserved place in history and it is my hope to that dream will be there for all time. Thank you gentlemen for everything that you've done for us.

GM closed Pontiac , but they own the name and everything that comes with it, I think it would be supercool if they got on board with this, changed the vins and offered them as a super top end ZR-1 type car. Either way the car is beautiful, well done

sputnikalgrim Pontiac tried that back in the day and got shot down by GM Corporate. That's how we got the C3 Corvette and... wait for it... the Firebird.

Me and a friend in 5th grade, every time we heard that TA rumble, we'd rush over to the windows to watch it fly by and we both made a pact that one day we'd both own one. Not sure who had there's first, but in the Army around 1987 I picked up a '76 4 speed with a 454 SD that did low 12's at a 1/4 mile track in Hawaii. Two much power for that 20yr old and I wrapped the rear left quarter around a stainless steel light post. Rear windshield blew inward at the back of my neck, popped the driveshaft out, punctured the gas tank and shifted the chassis by 3 inches. My friend bought an '80 model after getting hit on the head with a brick and suing the pizza place he delivered for. He ended up selling years later to cover his business expenses. When I got off active duty in 1990, I bought a '79 10th anniversary limited edition Bandit style off my towns retired police chiefs daughter. Kept it riding proud and turning heads for 17 years, everybody and there brother wanted that car. Cops pulled me over every opportunity I handed to them on a silver platter and because they all thought the police chiefs daughter still owned it. Due to bills an unfortunate divorce and a blown heater coil pissing all over the floor board, it ended up in storage for the past 14 years. Now the rusted hulk with a rebuilt 403 sits in front of my house under cover waiting for my decision to junk it, part it out or give my last gallon of blood for one final dance. As a disabled retired OIF combat veteran, ex-mechanic, the odds aren't in favor. I figured maybe picking up a few new tools and watching some vids, hearing that engine roar to life again might be worth an effort. Thank you for the awesome vid :-)

I am a Ford Guy from the 60's and I had a friend who owned a 1974 Red 455ci. SD Trans Am and I had another friend who owned a Custom built Gold 1977 6.6L T/A! They were Both Beautiful Cars! Believe it or not, even I as a Die Had Ford Guy, almost Bought a Brand New 1977 Bandit Black and Gold 6.6L Trans Am! But after comparing a 1977 Mustang Cobra ll, a 1977 Mazda RX-3 SP and the 1977 Black & Gold Firebird 6.6L T/A with T -Tops, I ended up getting the Mazda! Well, what happened was that in 1977 the Smog Laws in California were Very Strict and the power output of the V8 engines was way Down, the T/A was very heavy in Weight and only came with an Auto Trans! The Cobra ll didn't have enough HP and the RX-3 SP came with a 5sp Manual and was much Faster than both the Mustang and the T/A at that Time! I like your review of the 2018 Trans Am 455 Super Duty Carbon Fiber Edition Firebird with 1000HP! But since I live in California, I was wondering is it 50 State Street Legal? Thanks and God Bless! BTW!...I have a friend by the name Tim Porter, he owns a company called Muscle Car Automotive: www.musclecarautomotive.com/ He is the former owner of Ultimate Bad Boy Mustangs aka UBB, builder of 1000HP 2007 - 2014 Shelby GT500 Mustangs! He too Builds a 2018 1000HP Mustang called the RS 1000 Widebody Mustang using the Shelby GT350 Flat Crane 5.2L VooDoo Engine which Twin-Turbo Power!: www.musclecarautomotive.com/widebody It comes with a 10sp Paddle Shift Auto Trans or 6sp manual. All for about $135,000.00 for the 2018 Model and he says it is 50 State Street Legal! Well, maybe you could challenge Tim and his RS1000 widebody to Race your 1000HP Super Duty T/A!...I am Just Saying! :-)

Pontiac can’t survive just selling this awesome looking Trans Am. Of course they need other models to make it, but they will sucks. GM have too many brands. They lose more money. They can make this new generation/era Trans Am to a mid-level luxury, only one left to go to is Buick. That have the luxury Cadillac sport coupe. They have the Camaro for the mass production and lower end model price for the public to afford. Does not sound right to have Buick badge. But if trans am need to exist. It’s has to be in mid level luxury model and price. So not too many people can afford it and trash it. Only one or two models. Second model be more a gran turismo likeness which that will have the special Pontiac emblem on it.

I had a blueprinted 455 in the 78 one of my all time best rips was coming off a side rd at a stop sign on to a 2 lane uphill across from 3 bars in upstate NY...must of been a clam bake or golf tourney.. I rollled backwards w clutch in from the stop sign let that clutch go and lit them tires up that firebird kicked sideways every MF on that st stopped as I ripped thru the gears I swear I flew up that hill sideways for a half a mile probthe best burnout of my life....I tell you legendary armhair raising moments....use to run 100 octane with a quart of lead every tank....picked up more tail in that car than any other car/bike I ever owned!!!! Sold it payed for my daughters braces + college

Awesome car. I would love to see how this would evolve into a production car. As it is, it seems really conceptual and more like a resto mod type creation where the nostalgia is so big that the details attemping to be brought back to life are too literal and not abstracted and evolved. I love what they have done. Would love to see more funding and developement to see what a trans am would have evolved to be.
