Love this video... just bought Transcribe! through your link. I was using AudioStretch on my iPad, but like using my windows PC much better. I use it to lean fiddle tunes which can be REALLY fast, so being able to slow it down and add the measures/beats is a big plus. I'll check out your other videos on transcribing. Many Thanks!!

Sorry can't buy from your link - I bought my copy 20 years ago or so (I actually think I have gotten all the upgrades free since then...) - would like to add that when you are learning something with a technical/speed challenge, being able to slowly increment the whole band or backing track is insanely helpful. It makes practicing more like a 'game'. Set the loop to slightly outside the bounds of the passage needing work, play in perfectly 4 times in a row and then increment by 5% faster. It keeps you in the game - in the moment and working in a positive fashion. Yes, it isn't pretty, but it has never crashed in decades of work and it does the job you want with many features. Not sure if you mentioned it, but the view of the 'show note guesses' has helped track down a hidden pitch in a chord voicing etc. Two thumbs up!

It is a smashing one of a kind product for how to instantly slow down music by software without the normal expense. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my cooworker got astronomical results with it.

1.) How do you get a You Tube video into Transcribe and work on a guitar lead you like from a video? 2.) If you are able to slow down the audio (which you have demonstrated)-Does the keyboard give you a "first note" starting point of the Lead you are trying to learn? Great video-thank you.

You can load the video in and the sound file is shown or do you synch the video to the sound file? That looked a little too easy to have video reference. That keyboard is a distraction, what is he going to do with that? It must not exchange for a guitar neck or option of not having it shown.

yep, I downloaded it using y2mate, then right clicked and opened with Transcribe - you have to have the Gstreamer plugin installed with transcribe, but it will ask you to do that :)

Hi Levi, Although this video is 2.1/2 years old would you still recommend Transcribe as the software to best provide a way of working out what someone else had played on a song. I like to play material on guitar that had not been written for guitar and want a tool that will help me carry that out. I'm working on the saxophone parts of James Brown's song Night Train and would like to buy some software than isolate what the sax player was playing. Thanks.

I still use it every day - but don’t expect some magic software that will be able to take an audio recording and isolate the sax part, that’s not a thing. A computer deals in 1s and 0s and doesn’t know what a sax part is, we can hear it because we can interpret what we’re hearing and process how it was made etc. But yes, over a decade on no one has provided me with any good reason to look for other software. I love transcribe

There's no reason you can't have a folder of .xsc files (transcribe format) to open when you want the track open with all your tweaks.

There is . I watched a tutorial and there is a tool that looks like a wave function that comes above the piano roll and when they slow the audio down the waves spike highest over the keyboard at what notes needs played. So of the wave is above a B all over the keyboard then the note to play is a B note. It seems to help if you have trouble finding the notes yourself.

It's spectrum and then there is the option to "show note guesses" and you can click "show chord guesses". But they are guesses, and of there are too many sounds and layers from different instruments and beats , it may be too difficult for the software to guess the right notes. Software and A. I is coming along quickly , in a few years there will neural networks and software to do this completely accurately and quickly.

Then you're not doing it right - mark out all the bars, subdivide accordingly.
