I had some very good success with a gel plate, a maple leaf, several colours, fabric medium and some poly cotton fabric...There was no drying time in between so the process was very fast. I think I played for an hour and ended up with 18-20 very different but similar 6x5" scraps of fabric. The intent was to play and the cuts were rough so quilting them now will be a challenge because they are varied sizes, but honestly they are so beautiful. I will upload them to my channel once I get them quilted!!

That looks really interesting to try. Off to my studio to see if I have any oil pastels or crayons!

I hope you found some! I am using all sorts of things. You can also try ballpoint pens or even very waxy pencils can work.

Both! Thank you for asking. I think the critical thing is the smoothness of the fabric surface. What it's made of is only an issue for me where practical textiles, quilts or clothing, are concerned. For my art piecesI use what I have. Also apologies for not responding sooner. KZbin has not been showing me comments in my feed.😑

Have you tried washing fabric after doing this process? Does the paint stay on okay with the addition of textile medium?
@InTheStudioWithMyrna10 ай бұрын
I have used regular folk art paint with textile medium and washed half of each piece within 24 hours. There was no difference.

Yes, I have and the paint stays on fine. I do place them in a lingerie bag for washing.

Qu'est ce que vous mettez dans la peinture pour mettre sur le tissu
@leonieandrewsart41372 ай бұрын
You add what is called 'textile medium' in English. It modifies acrylic paint to allow it to be heat set, and then it can be washed. Golden and Chromacryl brands have this product.
