Some other things you should know about Pyrenees if you're considering owning one: They can be *very* barky due to their protective instincts. So before you get one thinking it'll be great for your apartment life since they're low energy and not anxious, consider your neighbors. Not all Pyrs bark at everything, but most do. Along the same lines, they can be very wary of strangers in their territory and tend to bark or growl at them. They're usually fine anywhere that they don't see as their territory, but in their own home they are guardians and have an instinct to protect. Due to their independent nature they can be difficult to train. Even if you do get it trained to follow some commands, it will probably pick and choose when it wants to do them. They also probably won't play with you much. They're kind of like cats in the form of a giant dog. That said they're awesome dogs and I love owning them.

Former long hair haver here. You may be using more conditioner than you really need (most of us do). A quarter-sized dollop in your hand is the most you should need, less if you have less hair or it's finer/thinner. Also helps to dilute it a bit before putting it on your hair, increases the coverage and rinses off easier. Your hair will feel weighed down afterwards and you'll still be able to detangle it easily. Also I've recently cut my hair very short (like boy short) and I've been pretty happy with the lower maintenance, and the places where my hair was thinning before have grown back!

I love when you groom Pyrenees! I have two who are LGD’s, so they get extra dirty. I’ve learned several things from you, the best of which is the value of a high velocity drier! It makes their bathing sessions so much quicker, more productive and easier on all of us. While I got the drier for my big white boys, it’s awesome for my working border collies too. I now can bath them year round, regardless of our weather extremes here in central Texas. Thank you!!!

Thank you to the person who found him and did just that. And thank you Vanessa for giving him a great groom and giving him a pass on the paws and happy hoody. We don't know what he experienced during his ordeal. Example, my cat hates paper and plastic bags and cardboard boxes. He was a stray that I started feeding with a group of cats. He ran them off when he decided he'd adopt me. After a vet xrayed him found he had back and hip damage, he couldn't jump or climb, so I can only imagine that he was dropped off in a bag in a cardboard box. We'll never know for sure.

I had 2 massive bee hives so they were used to Benadryl because they refused to stop eating honey bees and wasps!!! So many swollen faces to deal with that it became common practice… I also noticed that this beautiful boy “squatted” to tickle. I trained my 3 boy pups to squat as well, versus raising their leg in the yard. I had a massive garden, new ornamental trees and tons of perennials/annuals that I put in. They learned very quickly, oddly enough! They also knew that during walks, they were free to raise their leg to tinkle! We lived in a rural area so they were happy campers with the particular arrangement! 😅😅😅

Honestly I think touching paw hairs tickles the dog. And tickling is like a "paw-jerk" reaction to pull away. My GSD always twitched and pulled away when I trimmed her paw hairs, though she got used to it. I imagine it feels funny and tickles. I used to take her paw into my palm and hold it tight and reassure her, then she would be fine. But she was always lying down, which I think made it easier.

We did the exact same thing with several of our large rescue dogs. We would let them enjoy a good belly rub, then put our leg across their bodies, to convince them to lay on their side. When done with that side, just roll them over, more belly rubs, then finish that side. Lots of rubs, a few treats & we were finished.
