Jenny, I chuckled when you were showing the golden oakland holly because I saw the unmistakable tulip poplar seedling in the clematis (I think..?). I find them all throughout my flower beds and it’s part of my frequent chore to yank them. So relatable!!

Hi there Jenny: It's almost noon time here and painter did not show up again! Oh well,backed up! It's not easy to find what you are looking to plant in the garden and who to trust but "YOUR" hydrangeas,bluebeard,honeysuckle vine, & Niagra Falls grass are growing well! Thank you for your information on Evergreen Trees> The Blue Atlas Cedar & Hoki Trees are just beautiful along with the fast growing tree olive and didn't know they actually have white flowers with a lovely fragrance. Have a nice day and week ahead!😍🌻

Saved the best for last❣️ Dwarf slender hinoki tree has been on my wish list for a very long time. Good point about checking with local garden center on tree/shrub availability. I asked this spring about 'Sting' arborvitae at this heavily PW-stocked nursery. They didn't have it. I will see if they can order any for future. I ordered 3 online, finally got them planted. Two are doing fine, but center one I split up the two that were in same can because I didn't want two leaders. Well, either I was too rough or they really liked being together because one is in the compost heap and the other will join it soon. I can't fault the grower and ask for a refund. Once they get to full height (claim is 20', probably not in my sandy soil) it will make a nice screen and winter interest outside my bedroom window. I'm enjoying garden videos today because Mother Nature is irrigating my garden. After several years of drought, I have zero complaints this year. Everything looks like they're on steroids...including the weeds.

Hi Jenny. I like to watch your channel to see what will grow well in NC. I am in the Raleigh area. I was wondering if you would be interested in doing a video on what shrubs do will in NC and those can be used in cut flower arrangements. For example, I really want a pieris, mock orange and ginger wine nine bark. But will those do ok in our heat and humidity. Thanks for considering.

Great video! Question on the Oakland Holly, can you trim them to keep them in check? Meaning I would want them a bit narrower, not 10-12 feet wide. And how far would you plant it from your house? I wanted to plant 2 in front of our 2 story home to anchor a large window. I’ve considered limbing them up as they grow as well. Thanks!

Good morning. So glad you made this video as we need to add evergreens for winter interest. What would you suggest to plant near septic? I want the winter interest but the septic tank and field lines run along the front of our house 😢. I've only planted small shrubs and perennials so far, but want some winter interest that can be seen from afar.

Hi Jenny, great video! I live in Ky, I am looking for some kind of evergreen that grows in mostly a shady spot. My neighbors have a shed that backs up to my yard that I have wanted to get something to block that view. Can you recommend anything that would get tall enough and wide enough to block it? Its about 10ft by 8ft wide. Thank you!

Jenny we purchased several green giants for privacy . All have a single trunk except for one that has split into two trunks pretty close to the base. Should we take out one of the trunks while they are still on the smaller size?

There is a decision one makes when planting trees when you are in your late 60's. Do I get what I can afford, or do I get a tree that might look like a tree while I can still enjoy it?
@bettyjocohagen79553 ай бұрын
Ms. Jenny! Plz plz you've just shown me I maybe overwatering! You just said your begonias aren't on irrigation!?? I don't have irrigation yet but me! Lol and I water mine alittle everyday. It's 90 degrees. Plz advise us on overwatering. I'm a somewhat new gardener and tend to over water. Plz help!
@taylorswf233 ай бұрын
It’s possible! Do you feel your soil before you water? Are the plants showing any signs of overwatering? Sometimes it makes plants wilty, sometimes the leaves turn yellow, etc.
@valhallamcgaughey37203 ай бұрын
Where I live it’s up in the 90s everyday so they do need a bit more water than in the fall. ***HOWEVER*** they can look wilty just due to the heat, which does not mean change your watering. Like the comment above suggested, definitely feel the soil and if it is already moist, don’t water. In the heat maybe check the soil twice a day until you learn their dry time. I have some begonias in containers outside that are pretty established so I water them about twice a week. I moved them to the shade for the summer. Also you could see if putting up a shade cloth helps (just while it’s above 90°).

I have a question- I have 3 evergreen shrubs in front of my house. When we planted them we put other things too close and I guess getting no light made the sides of the shrubs bare except limbs (I hope that makes sense). We have given them 3 years to rebound and moved the other plants but they still have no new growth on the bare spots. Is there a way to save them or should we pull them out and start over?
