This was the main transformers show I grew up with. And the CG animation hasn’t aged well. I know Armada had its errors due to a rushed production, but at least it used an animation style that allowed its central characters to emote and move fluidly. The CG is better for Cybertron. Overall, I, glad shows like this allowed artists to explore with CG and discover what works and what doesn’t.

ISTG I think one of 2D animators is Naotoshi Shida, THE BEST Action animator in Dragon Ball Media. The shading, the flow, movements, and angles n' all are so close to his style.

Energon wasn't even that bad. It had great ideas and concepts. Maybe the execution was bit messy and the animation should have been 2d but overall i liked the show. It doesn't deserve the shit everyone is giving to it. I was one of the few who actually liked Energon Ironhide. He was my second favorite autobot after Optimus Prime.

Heck, even Miko from Transformers Prime is more tolerable than this little shit. Not to mention that there barely any character development on that guy.

For clarity, the reason the Optimus Supreme/Galvatron fight keeps switching between the English dub and Japanese is because the animation for the US cut wasn't quite done due to being on rush order and featured choppy action. The Japanese final cut has completed animation. This was a flaw with both Armada and Energon, as the push to get the series out came to market the toy line. Ironically, it wasn't much good when these shows got the 6:00 AM deathslot on Cartoon Network right after Adultswim signs off each dawn.

Listen, the first half of Energon, or at least the first quarter, was awesome! The problem was that the animation seemed to get worse with time and the show forgot how serious its opening was, and what a powerful precedent and expectation it set. I don’t have Energon because it was “bad” per se, rather because it faltered on what it could’ve been. Armada slowly ramped itself up to the max, and Cybertron while also rife with questionable moments was at least consistently high stakes and fun. I’ll put it this way, if the first few episodes of Energon weren’t as damn good as they are the community wouldn’t hate it all, just pass it off as a disappointing sequel to Armada

The reason for the 2d scenes was because the "CGI" was too crude, primitive, limited, stiff, bland, & crappy to do facial scenes. The 2d scenes gives the show more fluid, edgy, & more colorful scenes than what "Armada" had. The need for CGI was because cel-animation was starting to become blobby.

anyway I think it was better to do the whole series in 2D The humans, settings, ships, some Transformers scenes and everything that is in 2D is more fluid and better than in Armada In Armada everything depended, they could put a scene with incredible animation like the death of Starscream, as well as bad animation like Jet Optimus vs Decepticons in chapter 26 It wasn't just the Transformers, even the humans and scenarios could be poorly animated.
