I’m really glad this exists as just straight up G1/Victory version. The Planet X and MMC ones are great, but they’re undoubtedly based on the IDW version. Even with new parts, you can’t really get past that part of their DNA. I’m super happy I got this, although I have gripes with the chest part not staying in and the figure not being able to sit flush with the throne(he basically hovers over it).
@RoninX3311 ай бұрын
The chest part I figured out you have to slightly bend the Tiger legs. If they are flat down it causes the chest to pop out.
@AnthonyAA-bt2lm11 ай бұрын
Wow bending the tiger legs does keep it locked, thanks it was really bothering me. This has to be one of the greatest transformers toys ever, reminds me of when I got my OG optimus primal toy as a kid. So many weapons and gimmicks. So happy I got this and I display him sitting on that awesome throne 😎

Agreed with w everything. I like the figure, but (in-hand) it just doesn’t say “premium crowd-funded release” to me. Overall, a good piece, but probably over-priced by $75 or so. Do NOT pay over retail for this unless you just can’t live without it.

The build quality on two micromasters that come with Deathsaurus is a MASSIVE improvement over the War for Cybertron/Victory Saber ones. I was never able to transform those without some of the arms and legs popping off. But these new ones are surprisingly solid.
@superbbb38311 ай бұрын
A fair and straightforward review. The only tiny thing you missed are the horns on the robot head fold out a bit. But, I was expecting fully articulated fingers, more resolved flaps on the tail and more range of motion for the robot head as a Haslab figure. He does scale well with my FansToys Dinobots, but they just look more premium in comparison. Which arguably they were more expensive to begin with.
@bahrahfahofficial115811 ай бұрын
I think that the selling point on this figure [for me*] is that it feels like Deathsaurus- and I hope that makes sense. I find that companies bang out figures of characters and they just suffer a little bit at times from over use of creative liberties or just flat out mass-production detailing (that is to say basic detailing). The figures either lack life or have different life while somehow just managing to be whoever they’re supposed to be, but the Haslab Deathsaurus just feels like him. Just 100% of Deathsaurus was put into this. I don’t know that I can ever say the same for G1 Prime who always seems to be lacking the things that make G1 Prime who or what he is.

I sold my MMC Deathsaurus yesterday to get this guy instead. While the MMC offering is a solid piece, it just isn't G1 enough for me. This Haslab hits that look perfectly for me. I love the bright colors.
@rhelscher11 ай бұрын
Part of my problem with HasLab is the products should be premium, but they're not, they're just CHUG wrapped up in a crowdfunding pseudo-premium wrapper. At least the ones I have, and have personally handled have been like this, including, and perhaps most recognizable with, Unicron.
@JaceyMitchell11 ай бұрын
If you really believe we'll ever see a retail CHUG release with the level of build quality (solid thick plastics, no gaps whatsoever, loaded with accessories, and all of this from a unique mold that isn't a retool) then I don't know what to tell you, but that just isn't what CHUG releases are like.
@Levi_52_33611 ай бұрын
There are 44.23 oz of plastic in this set (with paint and screws), made up of 259 parts. Deathsaurus is 141 parts, which makes him more complex that Rodimus and less than Ultra Magnus. The quality of this guy is already in line with the rest of Siege to Legacy, so I could've done without the vac metal for a higher parts count (every commander I have has a better parts count ratio to price). The tail and the wings are the biggest letdowns, as I really wanted to see some articulation from the tail, and the wings are just tiny for what was of Deathsaurus during flight (when he's about to use the Living Metal Destroyer Cannon on Star Saber, his wings are huge and his tail curls under him). Overall, I still love this set, but it very much is just a mainline figure that got a specialty release with exclusive coloring.
@Levi_52_33611 ай бұрын
I am also never touching this guy without rubber gloves on. It's just $180 (a lot, but no A LOT a lot), but after I gave my more expensive trumpet micro scratches everywhere using my marching gloves, I can't bear to ruin another shiny possession. That chrome is going to stay shiny until the day I day, or something inconceivable happens to it. I'm keeping the boxes, so I should be good on the moving front.

I think the TF Haslab team doesn't really have a focus for their figures yet. I mean, virtually every one of their Haslab releases has looked and felt like they were meant to be some kind of retail release but reworked into this crowd funded format instead, meaning more extras an inflated price and a bit more paint then they would for a retail product. Like you said, they "don't feel special." I think the TF team really needs to stop trying to rework their designs to fit the "theme" of the mainline that year and make their Haslabs more like Masterpiece-esque figures that the mainline wouldn't . Man, that new RiD Omega Prime looks GREAT but I don't see what makes it a Haslab over releasing it as a"Titan class" set. And, I think the worst part is that all these "premium" TFs still end up looking like mainline TOYS and not collectables (like the GBuster Power pack and wand set thing). It just feels like the team is confused as to what Haslabs should be for TFs. Meanwhile the Joe team seems to have had knock out after knock, probably due to how starved us Joe collectors are for more and vehicles. Marvel is kind of in the same boat as TF and feels more like they're just trying to hit a price point instead of delivering something really great even at a cheaper price.And then there's Star Wars..... the least said about their Haslab offerings the better right now.

This seems pretty baller for a mainstream Hasbro figure (yes, I realize it’s HasLab, but let’s be real… this is mainstream “plus”). The only thing that could have made this better is if they m put a clear coat on all the gray plastic. Especially the stand, which looks kind of chintzy as bar gray plastic. The translucent blue stand that came with Victory Saber looked more impressive. Otherwise, this thing is pretty sweet! Thanks for the review, man. I know mainline isn’t your bag, but I appreciate the review nonetheless.

Good review and glad we got to take a look at it. This is a good looking figure for what it is. It would be cool to see it next to the HasLab Star Saber just to see the pair together, but I know you don't collect this line. I was kind of hoping you'd show it next to the HasLab Unicron? If at all possible, would you compare this figure to the MMC version just to show a figure at the same price point? I know one is meant to be a MP version and this is more of a CHUG MP? Just a thought since you do have it and I believe you have the MMC version of Deathsaurus? Curious if you collect GI Joe Classified and if you do if you got the Cobra Hiss? Glad to see you didn't break it! I'd say that Transformers and GI Joe have been the most successful HasLab Projects going 3 for 3 on each line respectively. To you and your family have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Seems like a fun set. Missing a lot of paint: on the base, back of the wings, tail, and chicken head. Also, like most Takara Legends figures back during Prime Wars, they love using friction tabs on important visual hinges. That chrome gold appears once, but that just means that it's not above Generations in that you won't need gloves on for the guy. Hope no one broke the bank on this expecting more than what you get from a Leader/Commander Class.

It seems to have turned out decently but there are similarly-sized third-party figures for a similar price that I think are probably better overall. I wish they had released this as a mainline figure as originally intended, because for a HasLab project at about twice that price, it's rather underwhelming. Not bad, just not amazing.

My problem with the project and most of the Japanese extended G1 stuff is it doesn't feel like transformers to me. Like someone else said it feels design-wise like a gundam or even a shogun warrior pretending to be a transformer. The alt mode is ridiculously lame which just kills the appeal of the character. A big bad who turns into a space chicken. 1st ballot Hall of Lame (fame) choice for sure. Given all that, if you do like those cartoons with this guy in them then it seems like a good purchase for you.

Fun fact Transformers Victory art was worked on if I remember correctly by the guy who worked on the orginal gundam series , Star Saber himself was designed after the gundam , he even has the gun cannons on his head but ironically enough Victory is the best of the Japanese g1 transformers and both Star Saber and Deathsaurus are considered the Optimus and Megatron of Japan .
