The existence of boats and human history parallels in cars also implies that in the Cars universe, the Titanic was a sentient ship, she was essentially walking from Britain to New York, and she was fatally wounded and DIED from hitting the iceberg Which also begs the question; did she have a crew at all, or was she self-propelled? 5:30 About Celine: one thing I don't see enough people talk about is that she has a steering wheel, while other cars don't seem to have that. The only reason she would have that is if people used to exist in this world and drove her. She is probably one of the earliest "sentient" cars that existed. At first the eyes were put in the place of the headlights because people still needed to see. Once the cars became fully autonomous and sentient, the eyes were put where the front window usually is.

This is probably the best explanation for this I've ever seen. The cars always think of the things they do through the lens of 'I am the one actually on the road,' so they often forget about their human drivers. The whole series could very well be this colored perception of the cars looking back at all of the events and drama that happened to their human drivers, with themselves in the human's place. That could be the thing that solves all of the inconsistencies in the series, that the cars are putting themselves in the place of their drivers in flashbacks/memories!

It's just another universe in which the physics are in a way that makes interdimensional travel possible through doors and that human emotions can be harvested into energy. It's just different laws of physics that doenst exist in our reality. From that, you can expend on the universe by making tons of supposition of this universe history and organisations. The problem in the cars movie is that the universe doesn't make any sense and keeps on contradicting itself and nothing seems to be coherent. I think the primary reason people don’t suspend their disbelief for Cars is because every other Pixar series has humans in it to some extent. Toy Story has humans, Bug’s Life has humans, Monsters, Inc. has humans, Finding Nemo has humans. Incredibles: humans Ratatouille: humans WALL-E: humans Up: humans Brave: humans I could go on. The point is there are and have never been humans in Cars, and that’s why nothing makes sense.
@TheDr5024 ай бұрын
I agree. In fact, it's not even just that there are no humans in Cars because it could've just had anthro furry characters. Animals are products of Nature. Meanwhile, cars are consumer products. They're built by humans, for human use. Yet, the movies star cars without a human in sight. What is the use of a car when there're no humans to buy and use them? The cars themselves are proof that humans existed in this setting. There are even real-life car brands such as Ford, Lincoln, Chevrolet, Maserati, Subaru, Honda, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Ferrari, Toyota, etc, so then it raises the question of what the hell happened to mankind? I was still able to enjoy Cars 1 despite this absurdity, but they took the anthropomorphism so far in the second movie that it destroyed the whole film. Cars 2 would've definitely been much better being a brand-new movie that starred humans.

I'd agree with a lot of other people that it's because of Cars 2. In Cars 1, it's very easy to suspend your disbelief and just Go With It. The references to the established real life world and real life history are kept pretty general. You don't learn all that much about the wider car-world. Sure, you can ask questions about how the buildings got built or where the cars come from, but it's all secondary to the story and vibe of the movie. Cars 2, meanwhile, _constantly_ references _extremely_ real life concepts, history, and events. The nations of England, Italy, and Japan exist; there's a car Pope who gets driven around in a car Popemobile; the cars shoot human weapons at each other; there existence of environmentally-friendly fuel implies that there's car global warming, etc. The movie doesn't feature a plot to assassinate the vague monarch of a sort of british country, it features a plot to assassinate The Queen Of England. It's much, much harder to ignore how all the real-world stuff is supposed to fit into the car world, because it's all very specific and actually part of the plot

Next is that the Cars can actually pick things up with their tires. Not sure how that works but I think its some spiderman type stuff where their tires just stick to the things. @pedrovallefin84065 ай бұрын
The main reason goes hand in hand with the second point. All those other worlds funtions like our own. They have humans in it (except Bugs i think, but still seems like our world from a diferent perspective). The narrative in all this movies is to show us something we dont see in a world that could be our own. While the Cars world is completely separated from ours, no humans to be seen, yet way too similar in every other way. Thats what leaves people thinking. While the concepts of movies like Toy Story and Inside Out are so simple to understand that we dont even need to conciously think about it, we know implicitly that Inside Out is purely metaphoric and Toy Story quite literally works though the magic of make-believe (something canonised by the explanation of how toys come to live), the concept of Cars is so thoughtless that peope cant help but question it. If it made any sort of sense beyond its basic premise, "our world but with cars instead of people", then it wouldnt be so facinating to try and find some logic in the madness.
@Appletank85 ай бұрын
When you make your characters non-human, you either have to find a way to slot them onto the real world, or create a universe for them to exist in. Bluey, the characters are functionally human with a coat of paint, so you can roughly assume human technology and history maps onto their world. Robots, non human, but exist with their own culture, aesthetic, and history, if in a narrow view because the movie isn't going to turn into an alt universe history lesson. Cars ... they are non-human, have no real human analogue in terms of physical capability or biology (outside of tongues?) and yet they still somehow exist in a world that looks like humans lived inside.

I kinda think of the Cars universe as an alternate reality of this one where everyone is cars. So everything works the same, everything is “the same” timeline wise, it’s just every living think is vehicle shaped. I’d go so far as to say they aren’t even vehicles, just shaped like vehicles. There are several types of bugs with exoskeletons that can’t just swap whenever they want, so I think they have some sort of fleshy inside with an exoskeleton, meaning they can still drink “cow milk” and eat cows and drink water and taste spicy stuff.
