G1 Steeljaw for me. I’m a sucker for the cassettes and other Transformers that aren’t the norm when it comes to alt modes. They tend to stand out more.
@KasumiKenshirou2 жыл бұрын
One thing that was very weird about the G1 Steeljaw toy (shown at 0:21) was that his cassette sticker was designed backwards. There's clearly what's meant to be a lion's mane on the left side of the sticker, but it should've been on the right side to line up with where the toy's head actually is. On the subject of the animal microcassette Transformers speaking, I do remember Ramhorn speaking, but I don't remember if Steeljaw ever did. And Ravage spoke in only one G1 episode, while in cassette mode, when being played back by Soundwave. (At least I THINK it was supposed to be Ravage speaking. As it is a cassette being played back, you would think it would be a recorded voice, but it is not a recording of any of the other characters in the show.) I think they ALL could speak in the Japanese dub of the US show and the subsequent Japanese exclusive continuations.

As a kid the cassettes were always my favorites, which is why Soundwave was my favorite. I liked his ability to deploy smaller bots when ever he liked and was disappointed that his Autobot counterpart didn't seem to have any. I recall making up some for him as a kid, but knowing me they were likely recolor clones of Soundwave's group. I was surprised to see Blaster suddenly have some in the movie. It's too bad this ability has largely fallen by the wayside in recent adaptations, since cassettes have become obsolete. These days Soundwave largely is only able to deploy Laser Beak. I can't remember the last time I saw Blaster. It was likely some bit part in Animated.

Whereas, that version of Steeljaw was more of a "beast former", RID Steeljaw had a lot more flair and appeal because he had more personality to him. Not to mention he has a brother and a sister , which G1 Bot didn't have, and add to the fact the only time he showed up was to be bait in the WFC Trilogy.....I think it is pretty clear RID Steeljaw will eventually outshine his predecessor. People hate RiD for a mixture of the following reasons. 1. Downgraded Art and animation quality from Prime. 2. Cartoony, childish, goofy aesthetics and characters. 3. Cartoony, childish, goofy storylines and episodes. 4. The Decepticons are stupid looking Animals and Monsters now for some reason. 5. Character assassination of Optimus Prime. 6. Just generally bad and inconsistent writing. Contradicts events from Prime. Optimus Prime does not need training, this is the same Optimus from TF Prime and a Veteran Faction Leader of a millions-years long war. Overall a totally unworthy successor to Transformers Prime. If it was it's own thing copletely indipdenant from Transformers Prime, several of those listed reasons may have been nullified, but that wasn't the case.

I never saw the G2 prequel the same way as the Marvel practice of killing off discontinued toys until now. Skydive was the only survivor because he was the only member of Hotspot's crew to get a G2 toy, but they wouldn't know that until a year later, which is wild

Okay, I want a toy of Steeljaw based on his Last Bot Standing design so badly now. Especially if Sharpclaw comes with him.

Both sounds cool. I think it would be interesting if they decided to make both connected to the other, yet at the same time make them different characters of the other one, & make a devastating story for both versions of STEELJAW. Make BLASTER emotionally devastated, & angry after his pet Lion companion, & intelligent best friend, who was able to transform into a Compact object to fit inside BLASTER, but STEELJAW was kidnapped, & transferred his consciousness into the werewolf looking robot mode, & off-road vehicle alternative formed DECEPTICON body, & using his original name, but lacking his original memories to hurt the fun loving, & caring AUTOBOT, BLASTER. If they make BLASTER deal with PTSD over it, they could make him go from the original Red, & Yellow color scheme, to that Blue, & White 87 color scheme, as a means of symbolizing that metamorphosis..

Steeljaw (Aligned), as well as the Horrorcons, Terrorcons, and G1 Decepticon Pretenders/Headmasters are the equivalents of "Blockbuster Creature Feature" on Cybertron. On Earth, we tell stories of Werewolves, Vampires, Ape Men, Dragons, and other freaky beasts. Now imagine if you were an Alien Robot equivalent of that. Gotta be nightmare feul for most Cybertronions

I read Last Bot Standing and it never occurred to me that THAT was Steeljaw. Great info.

Shame G1 Steeljaw doesn't get more love. He really is a lovely looking toy. A robotic bright yellow lion with lime green eyes. Be nice to see him get a toy in the mainline.

I hope we get to see another Steeljaw based on his RID version in a series soon, especially with his sister!

Steeljaw from G1 will always be the best original character in TF but Steeljaw from TF RID is pretty Badass.

Topic idea: Pull-back motors. There were a number of toys with this gimmick in the early years (Topspin/Twin Twist, Battlechargers, Throttlebots, Power Masters) often combined with automorphing, but the motors have pretty much disappeared from what I know of more recently.

the gimmick limited very much what a bot could do, with the average transformers toy having at the very least the same baseline articulation of a powermaster, it become impossible to fit them in and having a working transformers; with the age of gimmick, spreading from armada to the second film serie of toy, priority as given to other gimmicks in the mianlines, and the pullback was relegated to smaller, cheaper toys, and later full on phased out to the complexity of setting it up

In my Transformers fanfiction, I'll go with the G1 Steeljaw. He needs a better comeback.

I don't see why these two different depictions couldn't be blend together in some new interpretation of the character. Let's say Steeljaw originally appered up as an intelligent, cunning and charming Lion cassette, serving under command of Blaster in years before and during The Great War. Although he had good position as a spy/hunter, he always hated that everyone was treating him as little more then a trained animal due to his robot mode. Sick of this constant mistreatment, after the end of the War, he turned to the Council of Cybertron, and got them to recreate his body into something reminiscent of his RiD design. Now acting as a Council's agent (Beast Wars Ravage style) at day, all while leading an underground rebellion at night. Fully embracing his animal theme, while also demonstrating that he's capable of so much more. (Ha, now that I think about it, this sounds kinda like Tyler Durden from "Fight Club")

RiD 2015 is a mixed bag for me. (Suddenly all the Decepticons are animals?) But I wouldn't be too surprised if eventually the G1 Steeljaw ends up getting a name change.

And the fact that that show is in the aligned continuity and is after prime names it alot harder to get by and when it first premiered I was excited at first but then I git bored of the show and it's lackluster action

It's wild that G1 Steeljaw has a whole Masterpiece mold, and they gave it to Nightstalker.

SG Steeljaw has appeared as one of the C.O.M.B.A.T. bots in the "Transformers: Earth Wars" mobile game. Matter of fact, none of the original four cassettes have made it into the game yet.
