I had this Jeep stashed back to make this swap on. Even though this sounds like a tremendous job, It's actually not that bad of a job. You even can use a bad/core transmission to make your good 2wd into 4wd. Not an entire step by step video, but should get you going into the right direction to make it easy for your swap. Hope this helps out!!

I feel honored to actually know someone who can do what you just did in this video. Not sure whether your knowledge or willingness to try something, would be your best trait. Impressive. Great tutorial video. 👏👏👏

The rear end of any a500 transmission 42/44/46/48 RE/RH transmissions is called the Overdrive. Ive rebuilt way too many 42re's and I hate them! Edit: I align the parking pawl and make a mark on the tail end before putting the rod in, it makes installing the shift rod really easy when its not crashing into the park gear

Dex , here a couple of tips for you that I have learned about with the jeep/ Dodge transmissions, that spacer that goes on the rear overdrive piston is selectable, so you want to measure it when you are changing overdrive sections to see if it has the same thickness as the one from the donor transmission, If it doesn't there is a way to measure it for determining the correct size , There is a guy on KZbin. If I remember correctly his name is. Gary Ferraro he is a transmission mechanic in New Jersey, he has some very good videos on the 42RE. /42RLE transmission. And I discovered that it works easier to lubricate the spacer , the bearing, the overdrive shaft splines and the parking rod before reassembly, I use Lucas transmission fix as a assembly lube and it works well or , transmission assembly gel . Personally I don't think wheel bearing grease is a good thing to use in a automatic transmission. Keep up the great work man Thank you for your videos.

Ive heard that theres a difference between the 2wd and 4wd output shafts on 46re/rh so thatd be for the V8. The 2wd overdrive housing (tailhousing) is longer and thus the output shaft is longer. Makes sense to me and i would think it would work to swap them out. I would think the only issue is your t case wont mate properly because the output shaft would bottom out. I havent tried doing it so its all speculation
