That couch is like one of those movie props they use to make the actors look like giants in fantasy movies and such. Also, is there a story behind the ice cream lightstand? The new rug really ties the room together. Also, cable spiral wraps can be a nice way to organize cables.
@Herr_U
@Herr_U Жыл бұрын
For cables, get resealable bags*, and also some painters tape. Just roll your cable shove it into the bag (one cable per bag), write on a piece of tape what the cable is for and stick it on the bag, and toss the bag into a box/container. This will eliminate tangle, makes it easy to organize/rumage through, and will look oranized (and if you use use differently coloured tapes (or just stick different colours on it) you can make the finding even easier (for instance "green tape = computers", "red tape = electrical", "blue tape = audio" and so on.). (* ziplocks, or the counterpart that just is a press-to-close)

I really like what you did with the shelf knick-knacks. It's like a cross section of the inside of a dome-shaped house all your deer and lucky leaves are living in, whilst two towering kokeshi dolls stand guard outside, ever vigilant of roaming mutant furbies :3

The 'red roses too' line made me laugh literally out loud. Very nice and subtle reference and I now have that song in my head. Love the layout, and I definitely agree that it now looks warm and cozy while having more space and openness. I'm sure it looks even better with the natural light shining in. I enjoy your videos and admire how strong you are to keep on even through tough times. You are amazing and very entertaining! Lots of love from Texas in the USA! :)

Such an improvement, well done! Having furniture the right scale for the room really makes it feel so much more welcoming. :) For cables, you can get an expandable 'cable snake' tube with a zipper attachment to make 'loading' the cables into the tube easy. If you have a lot of cables, I usually suggest doing one for power cords, and a separate one for peripherals to make things easier to distinguish if you need to get them out - but in your case, maybe one for stream stuff and one for the core PC setup. Then you can velcro or zip tie the tubes to the edges of the furniture to hide them. The free option that I used at my office was to braid all of the cords together in a sort of french braid, starting at the PC box up to the monitor stand, and then again from the PC box to the power bar. As long as you leave enough slack to move the stand around as needed, it works great. It's a massive PITA to undo if you need a single cord to be removed, though.

Love it! Pro tip: iron the carpet on low/med heat (TEST an area first!!!) with steam, or use a handheld steamer - even safer. I use an iron on my wall to wall when I move heavy things, it works a charm! But do test first please. I love the video, you did a great job!

I love office makeovers, lol. I work hybrid but am hoping to find a job that's 100% remote, so I'm always happy to see how others decorate their spaces. Your new office actually looks bigger with the larger couch, not smaller. The smaller one just seemed to emphasize that the room isn't big, but the larger one just feels more at home and snug. Great job!

A few others have recommended monitor arms for the desk and I totally agree - will look so much better and free up a tonne of desk space! If it is something you consider doing, make sure that your monitors have VESA mounts. The Dell probably would, not sure about the LG. Also before buying remember to check that the arms allow you to rotate the monitors if you want to keep the portrait + landscape. Not all monitor arms do this, though most should. Monitor arms that clamp to the back of the desk would give the cleanest look/take up the least desk space. As for cable management, velcro all the way! You can buy it by the roll and cut it to size depending on the amount of cables you're tying up which is great when they're visible, doesn't stand out nearly as much as full-size velcro ties. Would work nicely on the mic arm and bundles under the desk. They come in different colours, too! You can get adhesive cable tie mounts (for zip ties) to go underneath the desk towards the back and hide all the excess stuff from sight, then use more velcro for the cables down the legs of the desk. For the benches in the corner, if there's enough cable length from the sign, run along the edges of the wall/benches using those small 3M adhesive cable clip/organizer thingies, they come in clear & white I think.

Emma I love the vibe of the office. That couch gives a warm and mid century vibe. If I can make a suggestion for your desk to give you abit more desk space, you can get monitor arms and attach it to your desk. That way you have more space beneath the monitor.

The circular shelf was a great choice. It gathers things together visually. Also, orange pillow cases for that setup. :-). I know you're feeling about seeing your space done. For minimal cable clutter usually you either tie your cables as short as possible (if you need 3 and a half feet tie up 2 and a half from the starting point) and also to tie them to every hidden place you can so that it follows your furniture/stuff. Like use tie wraps/velcros to tie your pc's cables to your desk's legs and then behind the tabletop of your desk. Also, monitor arms are really useful to declutter a desk and have more space.

This is like when I renoed my studio/closet. It's good but I needed to fix a couple things that weren't working. Basically I still have to find a storage solution for my cables. I did find out that collapsible crates are a game changer when you have multiple projects with different cords and recording devices. I have to occasionally rent items too so I have a rental box now so it doesn't mix in with my items.

I thought this video was really cool, and it inspires me to do the same for my office space. My problem is that I actually have too much art on the walls, so I may take a page out of your book and keep it more condensed or limited to one wall rather than try and cram it where I can see it. I also love the inclusion of the keyboard, it really accentuates the perks of having an L shaped desk! Cheers to you and your new giant couch.
