I can't believe how fortunate my new poodle is to have me. Ha ha. These dogs are a lot of work. I couldn't take care of two let alone six, even if there was 48 hrs in a day. This new baby poodle is wanting and needing all of my time. I'm happy to give my time don't get me wrong. But I'm use to Shepard dogs. They seem much easier for some reason than poodles. But it's nice not having to vacuum up dog hair every day. This woman is a good groomer. She makes it look easy but I'm sure it's not. And Jack the dog, holy crap is he being a good dog for her or what?just be feeling good. I know when I use to have hair I would love to go to beauty parlor and let the women wash and cut my hair, sometimes I wish it took longer cause it felt good like getting a massage. This is my second time watching this video. I'm going to ask the groomer if I can stay and watch my bosco get his first hair cut to see if I can learn to do it. My wife just had to pick a dog that's going to cost us money. This dog reminds me of something my mother use to say to us kids: she would say if I could do over again I wouldn't of had you kids, but now I wouldn't trade you guys for the world. That's how I feel about this poodle. It's supposed to be her dog but I take him out,I feed him,I play with him,I'm the one teaching him and I'm sure I will be the one taking her dog to the groomer and the vet. Im so glad she likes her dog. She better not surprise me with another dog she wants for herself. Lol.

Congrats. Have our 2nd standard now, having had a miniature poodle in the past. Love poodles, but they do like to bark. Standard is a great watch dog and their bark less ‘yappy’ than smaller size poodles. And yes, my dog is well exercised- physical and mental - but still a barker 🙂

My wife just brought an 8 week old black standard poodle home. My last 25 yrs have been 3 German shepherd s. She kept telling me she wants to get a dog that she wants. I just did not expect a poodle. But had for almost a week now. Boy this puppy is such a cool little thing. I'm the one that has to take care of this dog as my wife works and I don't. She pulled a fast one me.You are very thorough in this video but I think I will leave it to the groomers. Looks like a lot of work. Thumbs up to you. Thanks I'm afraid you answered all my questions. They’re great dogs. I could get away with very little brushing as long as I kept his coat short - I clipped him myself every 4 weeks. Swam in the ocean most days. If you’re considering a poodle cross, their coat is harder to look after. Some still shed a bit AND need clipping. Way easier to get a poodle and groom in a non-traditional way if you don’t like pom poms 😁

The title of this video pulled me in because our first poodle was named Jack. His full name was Mr. Jack, but I would always say that on Sundays he was the Rev. Jack! He was a very handsome 60 lb white standard. Jack was less of a clown than our other poodles, we used to say he was a gentleman in a dog suit. Normally he would sport a puppy cut from spring though fall and would be a full polar bear in winter. But once he was groomed similarly to how you just styled your Jack - my wife loved it and we called him "Jack-in-Pants"! We had Jack from 1997 till 2010 - so I'm glad he was able to pass on his name to your Black Jack. You inspired me to brush out our loving Marco -65 lb phantom brown and tan clown. We'll head out on our hike now and show off his leonine style!

Hands down I prefer the dremel method for their nails, you are less likely to cause trauma to the nails if done correctly and I have never had a bleeding moment with them. It will also over time help push back the quick so that it is not exposed at the tip of their claws.

So I've been a hairdresser for a long time 30 plus years, I think how hard can it be to trim my standard poodle? Let me tell you cutting a humans hair then cutting your really curly haired poodle, and drying him with my professional hair dryer is nothing like I thought...🙄First off the bath exhausted me, then it took 4 towels just to get the water to stop running off the dog even after he drenched the walls of my bathroom and me from head to toe with slow motion shakes. I'm not halfway through and we are both exhausted. 5 hours later curls locked in tight, no straight hair here, he gets his face and head trimmed and we were both utterly wiped out...lol 😂. Kitty you definitely know your stuff, after watching tonight's video I will give it a second try on my 2 yr. old Black Standard Poodle he looks a lot like Jack only he has incredible manners. I tell everyone he's the best behaved dog I have and I didn't train him ☺️ You have given me a bit of courage that Chase just might have a chance to look even half as handsome as Jack when I'm done...Or not!!! 😅 I'll let you know how it goes. Anyways you are a great teacher, thorough descriptions very easy to follow your instructions. I love that you type out what step is on what minute also what size blade and ✂️'s and where, You get a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ star review! Thank you for this amazing video. Big elbow bumps to you! ❤️

Hello Teri, thank you so much for your beautiful message I really appreciate your words, It's not easy but if you are pasionate about grooming just find your time slot and stick with is don't let the hair grow to long. Also wash regurlar like every 2 weeks so teh coat is clean, after use the most nutricient conditionor you can find and leave on for a while. this wil make the coat better managable . have fun many pasionat groomer greetings from Kitty

Hello! For any dog it is important to start grooming very early to let them get used to it. It doesn't have to be a full groom, but you do have to make them get used to certain things. If a puppy has never heard a dryer, it'll probably be scared from it or uncomfortable for the rest of its life. Just put your puppy on a table, give them a brush, a gentle bath, clip their nails, make noise with the dryer/clipper, etc. Little bit at a time, so they become comfortable with the grooming process. Jack started being groomed very early on, so he has never known anything else. Kind regards

Are you going to get a puppy from Jack? That would be special, and you can keep his line going in your family! He is sensational!

Hello Deborah, Thank you for your nice and positive comment. Always nice to hear you enjoying the Video's. No , we will not have a puppy from Jack, he is a little bit to old to have a puppy from him. But he will always be our special dog in the company. Kind Regards, Kitty

Excellent content for a grooming video. Which do you personally prefer a smooth poodle face or the mustache? I always learn so much from your videos.

Fabulous. ❤ In your experience do standard poodles have the same easy to groom disposition as doodles, and smaller poodles? 🐩

I love watching your grooming videos. May I request from you and your fans: what is a good book I should read (or videos I should watch?) about training my standard poodle? She is a good girl, but then she'll sometimes be STUBBORN and not come when called. I want to be able to trust her to come to me off-leash, so she can play with other dogs. And I want her to be absolutely reliable about not jumping on a human, no matter how excited she is. And I think she is a little bored and would enjoy learning new things.
