Wow, thanks!! I have the 400 degree stuff from one parts store (their last one) and inadvertently was sold fuel line at another for the other automatic transmission cooler hose I wanted to replace on my 1990 Dodge Diesel. I think you just saved my ass. After watching your video I found a really good dedicated hydraulic hose and pipe shop in town. Thanks a lot!!!

We always sold gates or dayco hoses. And if I were building a race car with an automatic that had a shift kit that raised the hydraulic pressure I’d buy hydraulic hose for industrial purposes. It will hold greater pressure than either gates or dayco, but that isn’t necessary in a first level RV style shift kit.

When you speak of failure does that means it breaks open? Or does it crimp in on itself? Ty for your time.

Tony I am glad you posted this, I am doing the trans lines on my Chevelle now and was going back and forth between flare fitting couplings and hose, I would like you to show the proper way to flare the tubing and installing the hose for trans lines. I just don't want a failure. Thanks Bro

Excellent advice ! Throw those worm clamps as far away as you can ! They are useless for pressure lines of any kind !

So it’s either pick Dayco or Gates Hoses ... correct ?

145 psi...I choose gates hoses too....No such thing as overkill when it comes to hydraulics and flammable liquids...Failure just fucks up a good day.

Agree, also check the SAE qualification as printed for more rating data.

Correction: The hose sees more pressure than the cooler, specifically the trans discharge hose to cooler. Pressure is highest at the transmission discharge and decreases along the cooler loop, through the discharge steel line, hose, then cooler, and return hose and steel line to the transmission return port. And yes, it's hot. Hopefully not 300F or the cooler isn't helping!

The important thing is the SAE spec they conform to. You can see the SAE number emblazoned on hoses that conform to or exceed the specs. Good brands usually exceed the specs. SAE J1532 is hydraulic hose rated for lower pressure and lower temps than SAE J1019. I use J1019 even where the original line was J1532. Fuel line specs SAE J30R7 Fuel-vapor/PCV, SAE J30R9 liquid fuel, or SAE J30R10 submersible in fuel. Those are not Wittek clamps. Wittek clamps are the antique tower clamps you see on restored C2 Corvettes among others. The clamp you are showing is commonly called a Fuel injection Clamp or German Fuel Injection Clamp.
