Transmission Cooler Install Tru Cool - 6l80 GM transmission 4l80 Escalade Denali Chevy

Showing how to install an aftermarket transmission cooler in series and really cool your transmission temps in the Cadillac Escalade ESV. Applies to any Chevy or gmc truck suv including Silverado suburban Tahoe Yukon Denali etc.
We need the added cooling for the turbos we’ll be installing later this month. Stick around for the video series as we prep the Escalade for turbocharging.
Tru-cool 40k transmission cooler is great but overkill. We install an 18k cooler in series with the factory cooler and get great results including deleting the factory fluid warmer built into the radiator for very cool temps.

Added a similar cooler inline with the rad cooler and it stays wayyyyy cooler rarely goes above 170 now even running down the interstate on 100+ days

Leaveing the radaitor line open would help it cool down some with out a trabscooler ?and been looking up anything on this with no luck any one point me in the right direction

Did you plug the rad line off, or leave it open....

Left it open. Took both the top and bottom one out of the radiator and tossed em

Why did you feel the need to do this, you do alot of heavy towing?

Between doubling the horsepower with two turbos at 14psi and towing my 12k boat it’s the least I could do to keep her alive. Gonna go with a bigger cooler soon.

@@BobHGarage so at no point did the rad cooler ever benefit during towing? I think my 456 clutch was rebuilt a bit tight and it never shows up till a good heat soak in 100f weather... Id like to add a 2nd cooler but not sure that deleting the trans cooler in the rad is truly beneficial once temps really climb it's there for a reason right idunno

What temp is it running at now since you bypassed the radiator? Also did you flip the pill?

That truck is now gone unfortunately but it would hardly ever go over 170 and took a lot longer to get that high. The new Escalade I just got, I did the same thing but without a secondary cooler… just deleted the radiator “cooler”. So this one runs the same temps as usual but takes a lot longer to get to the higher temps
