Good job getting it done Kenny. You are like 99.9% of us trying to do it ourselves for the first time. Almost never going to be perfect but your confidence, knowledge and ability increases every time you try.

To check level when your done you need to remove the drain plug with the level plug still inside with the vehicle running. once it is barely coming out, its at the proper level
@Balticblue93 Жыл бұрын
Always loosen the fill plug before draining it. Use only an OEM trans pan gasket and filter. They don’t cost much. Don’t buy the cheap crap. You can do a full flush or just do drain and fills once a week or month to get clean fluid in the entire transmission.

the black plastic filter he took out is for the 1.8T gen 3 the other flat metal one is for almost every other engine. I have the same black plastic filter. also you check and set the level with that little plastic 5mm allen plug that's inside the drain plug on the trans cover.. once empty reinstall it and the pan and there is a fill plug on the side of the trans and you fill it up until it starts leaking out the drain plug with the plastic tube installed and then you know that's the proper level.

Nice! Thanks for the information. I'm about to do this job on my car.

The flat filter is the most common. The larger filter is for the TDI I believe.

Thanks for the tutorial, did it fix your issue you were having when you were feeling the small jerk in the trans?

Nice video. Did you get a new rubber gasket or reuse the old one?
@KennyLoyy Жыл бұрын
I replaced the rubber gasket for the fluid pan
@Balticblue93 Жыл бұрын
Make sure you use an OEM transmission gasket and most 1.8’s use the flat metal filter in the pan. Clean the magnets and pan really well.

Others say car should be leveled for transmission fluid change .. (rear wheels to be jacked at same height)
@i486DX66 Жыл бұрын
As long as he added the same amount of fluid that he took out, it shouldn't matter. It would only make sense to level if that helped more of the old fluid escape the transmission. But since he removed the pan, I don't think it matters

That’s a smart tip, I wouldn’t even thought of that, thx

Yo did your transmission filter come with an o ring? Like a rubber gasket? I ordered oem and it didn’t come with one and the one my car had also didn’t have it. So I just installed it without it. Should I redo the whole service but with an o ring this time?
