Transplanting Cactus Seedlings - How and When to do it :-D
@thelordofthemanor10 ай бұрын
This reporting video was very helpful. I like that you mentioned there's no need to re-pot seedlings until they start crowding each other out in the pots.
@desertplantsofavalon10 ай бұрын
So happy you found the video helpful, yes I always prefer to leave seedlings in the same pot as long as possible, they are much easier to handle when they are bigger and they seem to grow better and stronger when they are left to grow more crowded, thanks so much for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a super Saturday XXXX

my porodia had seeds this year already, my first seeds. now i was able to harvest them the fruit was still squishy didn't want a bird to get at it but would it have been better to let it dry the seeds are fine, very small but they have good form. im prob going to let them dry out completely for a few weeks before bagging them and i did clean all the sweet sticky stuff off. some bird would have liked that LOL. well ty for your knowledge it was partially your vids that allowed me to get my cactus to flower and produce seed. cheers

Dear Ms Lyn, regarding transplanting seedlings in early stages of development you might want to look at this video from a well-known Dutch cacti grower: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hKezgZStgrWEoq8 (please turn on the subtitles). I've been using this method for years with great success, so I'd call it well proven. Also, at least in my experience, relatively frequent repotting, especially in the first year of developement, significantly accelerates the growth of the seedlings of most species of cacti. Exception to this rule would be very slow growing species belonging to genera Aztekium, Strombocactus, Pelecyphora, etc. Best regards, Nino

Thanks so very much Nino for sharing the link to the video, I have seen this video before and I have bought cacti in the past from this awesome grower, I bought a gorgeous Schlumbergera lutea a miniature variety of Schlumbergera from him and its a little gem, and I have saved this video again for future use, thanks so much Nino for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, and sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a terrific Tuesday XXXX
