Jim I really love that you don't only do native plants, I know natives are great for the environment, but people like us from the tropics where our natives are just green weeds and have little to no garden appeal, rely on commercial plants like lantana and other flowering ones that u cover, please continue doing what you're doing, I've had other channels in the past that have completely converted to native plants only and I had unsubscribed 😢 because I can't relate to what they have there, love the work! Waiting for the next video on the best plants for pollinators!

hi Jim couple questions for you could you have took that plant and made four smaller plants out of it? Also what is the purple plant behind in the spot you moved the lantana, not the Mexican sage but the one thats in the gray pot?

Hi Jim, I have a question: are there 2 types of Lantana? I have some that the tag says is an annual. It's very hardy and has woody stems. I was going to put it in the greenhouse to overwinter, but I'd rather plant it in the flowerbed. Do you think it will survive? I'm in 7b.
@JimPutnam4 жыл бұрын
They tag them annuals for sale in areas where they won't survive the winter. It should be hardy here, but it may be best to overwinter it in the container until spring. Just keep it from freezing solid, but it can be out on warmer days

Hi Jim from Frisco, Texas! Thanks for the helpful video. I also have established Hawthorne's in the same bed that are 4 1/2 years old I'd like to save as well, can they be moved? I'm also curious to know what plant in the container is to your left of the transplanted lantana & to your right in the container? I had a gorgeous lantana this year but then I noticed it was getting smaller and smaller and I couldn't figure out what was happening. I figured either a groundhog or squirrel got ahold of it, but it smells so strong that I couldn't make sense of it. Finally when it was more than halfway gone, I had enough and moved it to a safer area. It's doing great now but I really hope it'll come back next year. How late is too late to transplant a lantana in zone 7A? Also do you know of any animals that eat lantana or make a nest from it?
@JimPutnam4 жыл бұрын
Most things avoid eating lantana, so I'm not sure what was working on it. Rabbits will eat almost anything. In 7a I would be concerned moving it even now. You can move it and maybe put some leaves over it when it gets really cold in January.
