You all had very valid points and I'm a glutton for complexity, so once it was pointed out how much that removed complexity I began to dislike it as much as you.

Great explanations on why you build like you do and it affects the game and reactions, learnt a lot thanks!

Good job. I must say this looks quite a bit easier than TF-1. You already have tons of people wanting your transportation services. Money will be easy to make.

One of the things that can trip people up on passenger lines is that they tend to frontload with demand once setup. You'll see stations and stops flood with people and the temptation will be to spam out trams/trains to meet that demand. Once that initial wave of passengers reach their destination, the flow of new passengers will even out and you'll be stuck with a bunch of half-empty trams and trains. As you'll see as this series goes on, I have a healthy but not limitless supply of passengers. As far as difficulty compared to TF1 goes, there are two things that make the game easier. Firstly, deteriorating condition only increases its emissions, it does not decrease performance or cause upkeep costs to rise. Thus you can upgrade when you want to rather than replacing aging vehicles so they stop being money pits. The other change is the existence of cargo black holes which may or may not be a bug/exploit. Either way, because it involves cargo it won't benefit us in the passenger phase of the game, and I'll likely add a restriction to not abuse it even when I unlock the ability to move cargo.

I don't have this game, but since the _rinky dink_ european locomotive is kinda... naff, can you instead double-up locos on trains? Like, two locos per train? They do/did this in real life. Edit: I say this, but I don't know if for passengers you get more revenue from *fast* transportation in-game.

Double the trains, double the power...and double the upkeep and double the purchase price. Better to work a lone runty engine into the ground and replace it with a newer one when they invent it with the profits we made. AFAIK, passengers don't pay a premium on speed. Like cargo, you're paid by distance on the volume you deliver. The way they simulate passengers being more sensitive to waiting forever for their trip is by making passenger stations get "Full" far sooner (capacity wise) than same-sized cargo stations, and that full passenger stations will cause your "Station" rating in cities to drop, penalizing growth where as overloaded cargo stations cause no penalties besides the lost cargo itself. As long as we are fast enough to keep up with demand, we get no further benefit from going faster. I'd rather a train be slower with more capacity to give each station more time to build up passengers for a full load.

@@Pinstar I see. The cost simply doesn't work out for double loco's on a single train, since the time the passengers are on board is mute. As long as there's enough throughput at the stations it's cost effective.

You absolutely can use multiple locomotives in one train. I do that in the beginning as soon as I purchase trains long enough to get a "poor" power rating. On the other hand, I begin with just one wagon, and add more as they are needed.

When it comes to passengers, once a train becomes long enough that a 2nd locomotive is needed, my inclination is to make it a whole new train. This will increase frequency which can help your passenger ratings. Cargo, on the other hand, really doesn't care about frequency but I'd still probably want to split off a 2nd train so my goods move along more evenly rather than piling up and getting dumped in large chunks (which can cause cargo decay if stuff piles up more than what the station can hold).
