A recreation in 1:1 scale, based on the Ordnance Survey Revisions of 1898, of a time when a London based commuter railway extended is operations 50 miles into the heart of rural Buckinghamshire. In this video we continue the journey begun in the previous one, on a Metropolitan passenger train from London to the terminus at Verney Junction.

I lived in Quainton during the mid-60s when I was at school. Cycled all around the area and remember the bridge over the overgrown cutting before Hogshaw. Quainton village, with its church and windmill should be visible as it’s on the lower slope of the same side of the hill as the station. Otherwise it’s almost nostalgic. The GCR line was still in use when we lived there.

I had to create the topography by hand (I did not have a suitable height map at the time) so of course the views are not accurate in all respects. I think the gradient to Hogshaw is wrong as well but it's better than nothing at all.

Question: was the line really that busy and, as oncoming locos are running boiler-first, where were they turned? It’s a lovely video, though.

I put more trains on just to make it interesting. AFAIK trains were not turned at Verney, they just did a go-around; however I claim no expertise on trai operation
