Unlike bumblebee, I think it actually makes sense that hot rod fought in ww2, considering that he lives with old transformers, I can only assume that hot rod arrived on earth much earlier than bumblebee in the bayverse. And my guess is that after the second world war he decided to retire and found his way to UK, where he meets up with bulldog and the Autobot lieutenant

TLK had so many interesting concepts, I wish they had been explored, instead of the tangled plot we got in the end. Hot Rod was a pretty cool character though, and I always wondered why he never helped Optimus' team if he was on earth the entire time.

I think he’s a mostly wasted character. I think the original idea was to make a bumblebee 2.0 a similar design of mouth a speak in-pediment A generally similar body honestly he doesn’t really have that much that making him look like hot rot to be fair. The bur already has a history of rated signing characters to the point they don’t resemble the original self at all.

8:18 the weapons hot rod was wielding were actually tonfa and sai, tonfas are basically batons but wielded differently while sai are dagger like weapons with three sharp point blades,with the middle one being the sharpest and longest while the other two being short and much blunter. Which is funny consider the fact that hot rod never used those kind of weapons during g1.

I have a theory on the vehicle modes and why they are different form their robot modes. My theory is that maybe hot rod and bumblebee scanned 2 vehicle mods but I doubt it since they later one use one vehicle mod but I believe so since this also applies to drift having a Bugatti veyron and a helicopter in AOE. But in TLK he ditches the helicopter and instead just scans a Mercedes GTR 2017. That’s my theory but let me know if you guys have a better one

As an alternate theory, I believe the reason why Bumblebee has no recollection of fighting in WWII or meeting Sir Burton is that he was mistaken for Centurion. The misunderstanding is likely due to them sharing a common robot body type. I am suggesting this theory in hopes that it would reconcile the comics and other tie-in media to the films. In case you are unfamiliar, Centurion is a Maximal from the Generation 1 comics published by IDW from 2005 until 2018. In the Revolutionaries series, it is stated that Centurion suffered amnesia when arriving on Earth and was reprogrammed into a duplicate of Bumblebee.

Also hot rod and bumblebee might have had multiple forms. Bumblebee could use his Mercedes mode to chauffeur someone special (Churchill) and tank mode for battle. The tank armor appears in robot mode for battle purposes. Boom. You have your answer.

I have a theory about how bee and hotrods robot modes don't match their vehicle modes. (Disclaimer, I know nothing about history so this theory may not add up completely) What if bumblebee and hotrod showed up in those fancy car forms instead of as armoured vehicles so they didn't appear threatening but then scanned new vehicle modes to use the vehicle armour as their armour (I know it never shows them scanning anything else or if there are other vehicles nearby but this is the best I've got)
