@@jaymylotto8134 ☺️ hello 👋hoe gaan dit ? I've heard that too!!! I understand that it's then more of a dialect? but ,I would personally say if thier dialect is called Flemish then it exists . What do you think ? All I know is I can understand people from Belgium much easier ,I read it might be old Dutch. We might have gotten stuck in time for a bit ,but today some new slang words and modern South Africanisims have been thrown in ,I don't think many would understand Cape coloured Afrikaans .They have thier own dictionary now .very colourful.one time I met Dutch people and they asked me what the kitchen was I said "kombuis "they told me it means galley I suppose it stuck from the ships. Quite funny . thanks for your reply ,I wondered about this .I hope you have a good week a head.I was learning about De Ruyter today.how beautiful those ships were ,very interesting man .One person in South Africa working in Eskom has this surname .

@@christdiedforoursins1467 This is just not correct. There is no single Flemish dialect, there are many regional dialects throughout Flanders and The Netherlands. Typically, when presenting the news or speaking in a formal setting, Flemish Dutch speakers don't speak in their regional dialect but in standard Dutch. You might notice a southern accent like the soft "g", but it's no more than a regional accent. The differences are like British vs American English. It's one single language. For some reason, it's fashionable for South Africans to say that they understand "Flemish" better. For more in-depth info, I recommend reading Petrus van Eeden's website/book: "Afrikaans hoort by Nederlands".

@@jaymylotto8134 Hello 👋Thanks, yes, I was reading a bit about this today as someone compared it to Australian and American English etc as you say,but forgot about South African English(I was in England for a working holiday I didn't understand some of them).☺️.I do get your point though .Thank you ,so I'd just say I understand people from Belgium better,(I mean no offence,it's only my experience)my ancestors are from Prussia and some are Hugenots,some married Dutch people(from Europe where I can only trace surnames in some cases) the French farms were put inbetween the Dutch farms to stop any uprising against the Dutch, so French stopped to be spoken as only 300+- Hugenots came out .Many Boers,those in the Boer republics were decendents from the Hugenots (De le Rey ,Coetseé, )and they fought together with the Dutch Boers ,that's why I was watching this video ,but have come across the idea Afrikaaners are not Boers.I did not know the Transvaal had this anthem.Im reading further about the politics on this as one of my ancestors was hang in 1901 for high treason and attempted murder he was 16 years old I found his story quite sad but interesting.the idea is that Afrikaners,(those from the Cape ) didn't fight for anything and so are not Boers.Anyway I apologize for any useless information you might know more about than I do but I appreciate you clearing that up for me, I was watching a few videos today to see the differences bit better.
