@stevena33333 жыл бұрын
That’s true. I had the privilege of training with Andre Galvao for about a year, he trained with everyone as often as he could too. I trained at Marcelo Garcia academy in Manhattan for 2 years, I rolled with him one time, for a 15 second time limit where you try to escape with your partner on your back. I was training 4-6 times per week consistently. Idk what that says but, you’re definitely right lol.

Being good on your back is everything In BJJ as far as I am concerned in real life fight the natural tendency is two get the mount and rain down punches , when you get good on your back you can bait with the mount...…………..

@tjl46884 жыл бұрын
Trap and Roll is basically the very first lesson that you will learn at Gracie Academy (Gracie University). If you can control the punches and cut of his range, you work up to a tricep grip and then roll :)

Is elbow escaping not preferable to the mount if you want to play guard since if you trap in roll you end up in your opponents guard
@andersnilssondvm3 жыл бұрын
I understand what you mean. You simply have to take what the opponent gives you. Trap and Roll is used in a chain of different escapes. Use it as a set up for another escape, or use another escape as a setup for the trap and roll. In either way you sweep them end up in a much better position than being mounted. Work 2-3-or 4 different escapes in a chain alternating between them. The one technique that will finally work to get the sweep is the "best technique" in that particular situation =) good Luck !

Gotta say, most of these guys didn't know the first thing about jiu jitsu, that's why he was having such an easy time
@jiujitsustudent6042 жыл бұрын
That’s what Gracie jiujitsu was originally designed for. To beat untrained opponents. But I can tell you that as a non competitive purple belt hobbyist, I can do this to most people because I’ve practiced it a lot. People give up on the fundamentals too easily. There’s a reason Roger beat everyone with a cross collar choke from mount.

there's a sweep/reversal he hits every single time from bottom side mount (i think, i can double check with my teacher, who is ryron's direct student). when people asked him (ryron), he said, yes, i can hit it only all the time. i learned it but it's not a usual move that i drill a lot so i've forgotten it.

It looks impressive but there's a huge skill difference, if a high level wrestler is in mount it'd be a really tough time if not impossible for him to escape. It's the equivalent trick of a trained striker dodging punches without blocks only body and head movements from a tomato can. In the words of gsp I'm not impressed.
@Gearyco2 жыл бұрын

@mistermindahenziandalasnus37542 жыл бұрын
GSP trains with the Gracies and got his black belt from them. 😆
@KaninTuzi2 жыл бұрын
That's not true. Ryron is able to trap and roll his way out from under world champions. What makes this impressive is that he limited himself to only doing trap and rolls, and had to forego several hip escape opportunities etc.
@uncutuser Жыл бұрын
Well... you did not see Ryron trap and roll Andre Galvao (arguably a high level grappler) in a match then...
