Nothing like the smell of logwood dye and hot wax. Glad to see someone else still using some of the old style mink traps still. I love the #2 square jaws too but nothing like catching them in the older traps sometimes.

Nice to see someone use the time honored classic way of dyeing & waxing ! Surprised you didn’t get into the wax used itself ? Wondering if Beeswax is still a ‘go-to’ or have they developed blends of synthetic with beeswax, etc. and pro’s & cons off ?

What is your canine trap waxing process like? Do you control your temp closer to avoid the odor you mention?

I use Formula 1 on my canine traps but a double boiler can be used to keep the wax from getting too hot
