There are lots of homemade rat traps, homemade squirrel traps, but these traps are usually cruel and illegal! We have all seen the squirrel catapult trap or the squirrel sling shot trap on KZbin. Both are highly illegal and break many laws of animal welfare. Squirrel trap homemade or not, it has to be legal. If you want to know, "how to trap a squirrel" and you want to trap that rat or squirrel legally, make sure its on the Spring Trap Approval Order!
These pest traps are on the Spring Trap Approval Order in the UK and the Agreement of International Humane Trapping Standards which covers Europe, Canada and the U.S.A.
These traps should be used inside a tunnel. Trapinator makes a tunnel for the traps, as you can see in the video, but you can make your own tunnels and Trapinator or Killgerm can help you with instructions on how to make a tunnel that is legal to use on the DOC trapping system.

Great traps been using a couple for a while for rats , no foul catches super humane . I am using Quill boxes which are a bit more heavy duty. You'll find if lots of young rats are about you'll get multi catches as the weight required equates to two or three of them Ive regularly caught three young rats at a time . Box from Trapinator looks good but I suspect a rat or grey squirrel would destroy quite quickly! As always good video Martin Good Knight Pest Control- keep up the good work

Field mice are protected in the UK, and on our environmental risk assessment, we have to try our best to ensure we do everything possible not to kill them. This trap is extremely good, and we have many in our stock to trap squirrels. This trap does need some improvement, we get so much damage caused around the trap where the squirrels damage all around the bottom of the external areas of the Trapanator box. Can you improve the design to prevent this damage to the box. If it had a metal edge around the bottom of the top folding section of the box we wouldn't need to replace them so often. Or just try to improve the design to help prevent this . Just some feed back for you. About a design improvement 👌 Its perfect that this trap does not kill field mice with the Doc 150 👍

@AZEnvironmentalServicesP-mg8te Field mice are not protected in the UK. Most rodenticides aren’t allowed to be used on Field mice (check the label it’s the law) but they definitely aren’t protected.

I use the DOC 150 in a home made box, taken numerous rats, humanly, love them. The squirrels get taken our with my HW100.

I have the Doc150 and green box. I`m a bit nervous as I don`t want to catch birds or hedgehogs. They wouldn`t be able to access the trap within the trapinator box would they? Our hedgehogs are struggling here. UK

@@thehotbox9788 no I know. I'm saying wood traps are crap lol. More often than not when I find something caught in a wood trap, it's still alive and suffering. One time I caught a big old rat BY THE NECK and it didn't break it, nor did the rat suffocate all day. I ended up having to crush it with a cinderblock. Smaller animals I usually have to put them in a bag and bash their heads. It's really messy and gross and traumatic. I'd much prefer a trap like these in the video that actually work and kills the rodents.

@@_audacity2722 bro you need to buy a pellet rifle then, something cheap that can launch a .177 hollowpoint through their skull. Instant death, no suffering, and you can do it as soon as you hear the trap. I don't really like traps either because they aren't a guarantee like you said. I post up outside for hours some nights just picking them off sith said rifle and I'm much more confident in how humane it is.

I don't care whether rats die humanely or not, as long as they die. Hate them. But this "trap/exterminator" has my attention. I don't want to buy any more traps that need some sort of modification. By the way, how much pressure do these need to activate them. Rats don't tend to jump on them like its a trampoline.
