Another great recovery Ron. It was wild to see you use all the different functions of the truck to pull the cable barrier up off of the car & than able to drag the disabled car out from under the cables. 1st thing that crossed my mind was cutting the cable. That's why I'm armchair quarter backing while your out there getting the job done. Awesome video.

I live in Europe and we use gaurd rails next to roads, iv seen them in the US aswell what is the advantage with those cables? is it cheaper or what? To me it seems very unsafe and for sure for motocycles...
@radioloops6 жыл бұрын
Cable barriers are alot safer for cars compared to guard rails or even worse, concrete barriers. Cables can absorb alot of the impact energy which is the force that usually kills in car crashes. And yeah, they are banned in europe because they are seen as a hazard to motorcyclist but in the US they havent increased lethal motorcycle accidents.

Decent recovery video. My observations. You can be intense sometimes. Remember, your intensity can spread to others. Relax, stay focused, ascertain the occupants condition from the police officer upon your arrival. Then execute your plan in calm, deliberate actions. If you appear stressed, tense or anxious, others around you can easily pick up on that. Glad the driver didn't sustain any "observable injuries", not so for his car. Keep the videos coming.

Always thankful for situations you can de-stress from, as an EMT there were quite a few runs there was no relief from the stress. There are release papers that the person signs so as not to hold up the fire and EMS at a scene where they are not needed/wanted.

Another great job Ron. This driver sure had someone watching over him. Those cables, while efficiently doing their intended job, are also a dangerous hazard (a little too close to the travel lane for my liking) and nuisance to recovery. But someone has probably said the same about the old W rails (Metal guard rails). Anyway, glad the driver was uninjured and glad you guys were able to help this person with what, on camera, seemed very little effort thanks to that awesome 1150R "multi tool". Stay safe and God Bless.

WOW two cable jobs in a row. Kind of wonder just how safe they are compared to the rails. A whole lot of stored energy in those tight cables just waiting to be released by an accident or you recovery guys. Never know when you will find the "weakest link" in this system and chaos ensues. I was absolutely horrified by the amount recoil and uncontrolled cable flight when you cut the turnbuckles in the last video.

I love your videos Mr Rotator. It is interesting how laws differ from state to state. I am from California and driving that rig or any tow vehicle 80+ wouldn’t be permitted and you may land you in jail for endangering the public. Lights and siren are not allowed if you are not fire, ambulance, or police no matter what the situation is. My comments are just an observation and not a criticism or judgement of your excellent work and professionalism.
@RonPratt6 жыл бұрын
Missouri is one of only a few states that recognize towing/recovery vehicles as Emergency Vehicles. It is understandable that it is strange to a majority of viewers. Questions/comments about our ability to run Code (lights and siren) are, by far, the most common that I receive. Thanks for watching and God bless.
