This side of quirks I thought was actually really interesting. Toga of course had a choice in becoming a serial killer, but the layers were that one, Toga’s quirk made it so that she was naturally drawn to blood (that was her “normal” and something more of an instinct), and two, that people didn’t care to try to understand her and instead try to make her “normal.” She had no control over either of those. It makes sense now as to why she wants a world where she can do what she wants. She wants to be herself. Her backstory is making me love her even more.

To be fair, her parents do share the blame too. Toga didn't receive any kind of therapy and was told to wear a 'normal' mask her whole life. Her blood lust, while abnormal, wasn't properly addressed, only suppressed. And when she finally snapped, her parents didn't even take responsibility, but instead blamed it all on their 'demon child'. (The manga covers this better)

The Episode sadly didn't completely touch on Togas Backstory. I guess it could be said that for Toga blood was essential, she felt hunger for it. Technically she could have gotten a substitute, like Animal Blood, but instead she was giving "Quirk therapy" Which basically just tells you "Your Quirk is bad, you need to be normal" Her parents hated her. Toga was holding back for years, till the hunger for blood was so big that she couldn't see the difference from her love for blood and love for people. With the right handling she could have been even a Hero I think, but Bnha Society is still not where it needs to be in understanding people with certain quirks.

Nothing wrong with sympathizing with the villains, it just means they're well written. It doesn't mean you agree with the actions they take. I won't be the first to say it but Baron Zemo from the MCU movies is a good example. You can sympathize with him because he lost his family during the final battle in Age of Ultron. However you don't agree with the horrible things he's done since, including the murder of a King just to frame one man so he can use him. Same deal with Toga. I can sympathize with her since she was dealt a crappy hand with her quirk, but I won't excuse anything she's done.

I agree, not every good villain needs to be sympathetic but, lots of the really well written ones you can sympathize with because it makes sense how they got here, yet you can’t excuse their actions. However there are always the villain fans who, no matter what stuff the villain did, it’s always excused and said it’s some other characters fault. Like, okay, maybe that other character has some part in the villains actions TO AN EXTENT. The villain themself is responsible for their own actions.

The problem Toga faces is a matter of conformity. She’s biologically and mentally driven to seek out blood thanks to the nature of her quirk, and that is an urge that was repressed because people looked at it as some sort of psychotic behavior, which is debatable, but definitely tied in with her quirk. She was never really nurtured as a child in such a way that she was able to cope with the disparaging nature between what people thought was normal and what she instinctually knew as normal. Because nobody tried to view it through that lens, nobody approached her on the grounds that there were other options available to her. She was only a middle schooler when she caved in after all. Instead of believing herself to be some strange thing, she made the choice to stop being treated like a strange thing, yes, but was that choice made after caving into her biological urges or after? If you argue for after, you can say that she knew that what she did was wrong, but in order to cope with having hurt the person she cared for, she warped the idea of what was normal to suit her and began to fight for this twisted view in order to excuse her actions. Acknowledge however that the interviewer acknowledges as insane still, so it’s more of a breaking point than a mental huzzah moment.

The shigaraki Lores going to mess you up inside its so heart breaking

Ok. Let’s do the character analysis. I don’t know how many I’m covering so it’s trial by fire. Shigaraki: This guy…he has to be hallucinating constantly with the amount of sleep he has gotten fighting Machia. It seems that there’s even MORE than what he just demonstrated since it seems tied to his memories. And I love the Medusa effect. Instead of making eye contact it is touching. And now it has a spread effect. Which is you know. Terrifying. And it happens so fast that even Spinner was in disbelief of what just happened. He blew literally dozens of people away like wind. And they feel every speck of themselves vanish as they decay. Even something that fast must feel it all the way and it is EXCRUCIATING since Overhaul and Aizawa both survived. Which…needs to be brought up. The 1st time Shiggy used decay in this show, it acted VERY differently on Aizawa’s arm. It didn’t turn into dust. It was like he literally tore off a large chunk of flesh. Like how one tears bark off of a tree. Toga: This was a VERY interesting showing for her. She has not quite mastered her quirk like you would assume. In order for her to copy a quirk, she wants to become more like those she loves. When that desire kicks in, she can use their quirk. If she can master that feeling, then yes she can copy any quirk. As of now it’s limited to Uraraka, Deku, and Stain. 3 great quirks for her to be sure. Which is the same amount of copied quirks Monoma started at. If you look at their family circumstances, their quirks, and even APPEARANCE, I realized there is actually a HIGH chance that the two of them are related. Likely cousins. If a the Toga family bloodline is of copy quirks, the chance of getting Neito Monoma and Himiko Toga in the same family tree is EXTREMELY high. They even have the same hair color, same giant smile, same obsessed personality, had shit parenting which they broke out to spite their advice and become who they want to be, all of that can’t be coincidence. If Toga’s dad is the copy holder and Monoma’s mother is the copy holder, than it’s just the case. And that is a VERY interesting conflict possibility. Unconfirmed of course but I’m at 70% chance already when I noticed that. Curious: Now I think she’s obnoxious. And that is something that was kept in the manga. The thing that is unique about her other than her awesome design is her obsession is NOT connected to her quirk and what it would push her to be. Other than loving stepping on conversation landmines I guess. And I like that. Quirks are often connected to personalities. This is a strange anomaly if you ask me. And I kinda like it. Also pretty ok with her not sticking around as much as she is currently sticking to the road. Crazy girl had kamikaze slaves at the ready. But an equally horny person for stories fighting a horny person for blood is a VERY amusing fight concept. Like my GOD did she moan a lot. She is REALLY enjoying herself. I am not sorry because the rest of her demeanor screams it. Dabi: Dabi I wanted to mention this last time when I looked into him. He is a sociopath. So instead of being born emotionally deprived he learned how to become that way. Ordinarily it branches from trauma. You know what it is just by looking at the guy. His firepower is NO JOKE. That ice blast was on par with Shoto’s stadium nuke in season 2. And Dabi just held off a constant flow on a MUCH bigger scale than Bakugo did. Even with Toga’s new power up, she’s still got nothing on Dabi. She doesn’t love him so no quirk for her. Dabi is at standing the strongest member of the league. No one has his kind of power yet. Uraraka: So I guess I’ll talk about my theory as this is the most relevant it will get. If you pay CLOSE attention to Uraraka’s quirk using, it doesn’t match to zero gravity except a handful of times. Her floating power on herself doesn’t follow zero gravity physics. She can fly in curves and patterns for some strange reason. When she releases her hold on her attacks, they rarely EVER fall all at once. Even when Toga used it. And even at different speeds when they do fall. And she too can spread her effect across not just entire outfits, but entire PLANES. So here is what her quirk is most likely. Gravity control. Not just removing gravity, but lessening it (when an object stops floating upwards for some reason and they fall slowly and increase speed. Like moon jumps.), increasing it (when the rubble she uses falls at different speeds), giving OTHER OBJECTS gravitational poles (when she magically flies towards specific objects), changing gravity’s natural direction (when she flies in curves) and of course spreading it on large scales (stabilizing an entire plane AND it’s cargo, and pilot, all while only touching the steering wheel. That may not be canon but the fact she can spread her effect across an entire person and their clothes shows that is COMPLETELY possible. Best example is when she carried Nighteye out of the hideout. She effected him, his clothes, and her all at once.) This is so broken it’s obscene. If she masters increasing gravity, she could replicate 13’s quirk. And that could EASILY put her in the realm of OFA at the end of the show. There are 4 possible OFA contenders at the end of the show among the students. And it’s the main 4. Bakugo, Todoroki, Iida, and Uraraka. And with the cast being able to keep pace with Deku at all at 20% shows they can make it all the way. She’s my number 5 of the 40 when she’s in a fair environment with everything she needs to fight. But if she gets this power up, she’s number 2 only behind Deku. No exceptions. This is the best chance to talk about this.

It’s not toga’s fault. Quirks change personalities so since toga’s quirk has something to do with blood and changing to people when she loves people or other living things that means she’ll drink there blood. So it’s not her fault for her bloodlust…all her parents did was call her weird and stuff, which is true she was odd…but they never solved the problem they just told her to be normal and she tried to do that for the rest of her life until the incident that broke out in her high school that’s why she was crying…it’s cause she couldn’t take it anymore it’s the heroes fault her parents fault and society’s fault for not taking care of her or giving her and many other people with such destructive quirks AKA the villians the proper attention and aid they deserved

It's a year late and lots of people already talked about it, but I can't help myself. Toga's Quirk gives her a deep, psychological affinity for blood. Blood is tied to love for her like a kiss would be for most people. Without sucking blood, she can't fully express her feelings. Her parents rejected her out of hand without trying to understand the relationship between her Quirk and her mental state, her emotions. Forcing her to just "not drink blood" is the same as telling other people they can't express affection to the people they love. This is a big part of the series most people miss. Quirks aren't just physical, they're mental, too. An individual's personality informs and is informed by their Quirk. It's a part of who they are. Forcing people to not use their Quirks is a lot more repressive and, at times, emotionally traumatic than restrictions on power use are in most superhero stories. In Toga's case, her Quirk is inseparable from the feeling and expression of love. It's especially bad given how this is a "superhuman society" that's come up with so many ways to accommodate different Quirks, not to mention the safe and hygenic blood transfusions we have in the real world that the Japan of this setting has, too. And the anime won't get to it for a while, plus will probably tone it down some (given how they removed a lot of context here), but we do get to see just a little bit of the "counseling" Toga's parents sent her to later on in the manga. It gave off major conversion therapy vibes. Plus the way her parents talk to her is just vile and really hard to read. They talk about her like she's not even human. Now imagine that for her entire upbringing, being forced to bury a fundamental part of who she is. It's a miracle she didn't snap sooner.

I don't know who made this analogy, but they said that when one person calls another imsane, it's becouse their line of thinking is SO perpendicular, NOT parallel with theirs, there thoughts and belief can never be im sync. Himis NORMAL is so different from most people NORMAL that almost everyone calls her insane. But, I bet an actual vampire, whose whole world revolves around blood can relate to her. But how many of those are there. She's wasn't really a monster, but she kept this side bottled up so long, that when it blew, well this was the result. Reminds me of Bo from Lost Girl. She's not a monster, but becouse of how people treat her, she MUST act monstrously, or they will catch her, and put her in small, windowless, barren cage, all alone forever.

They did a bad job at redeeming Toga in the anime adaptation and I just noticed it now. In the manga, you get a feeling that she's being controlled by her power, and it's not her fault that she's the way she is, and does that make Toga the villain or the hero society? Yes her actions afterward make her a villain but she could have been helped by others. It's kinda the same with Shigakraki.

I actually just read volumes 23, 24, and 25 of the manga cause I had been wondering for a while why MVA was so hated in the anime adaptation and I have to say I like the manga much better. I’ll have to read toga’s moment again (all 3 volumes are very close to me so I can grab them) to see what u mean. Why do u need to know all this? Because I like to ramble.

Yeah throughout this arc, you don’t really wanna root for the League of Villains knowing what they’ve done, but compared to leaders of the Meta Liberation Army and what they’re doing to them right now, you can’t help it.

I'm not sure why they moved the arcs around. It seems like they could of just shown us them in the original order and it would of been fine. More so then this, which cuts out Re-Destro's introduction and I miss that. Also just to be clear, Destro's kid is likely dead. If they are still alive they would like be older than Gran Tornino. Sounds like there have been a few generations since then.

@@King_Nex The tournament was ages ago. Or are you talking about the class 1-A vs 1-B arc? The first half of the season went just fine. This arc came before the Endeavor internship arc. They left in the stuff with Hawks and what he was up to, meaning they basically spoiled the ending to this arc. At the start of the My Villain Academia arc they did a flashback to when Gigantomachia showed up. They had done this shortly after the join training arc in the manga. This is where Dabi gets the high end nomu that attacks at the end of season 4. After the fight between the League and Gaigantomachia starts it jumps forward several weeks as nothing really eventful happens and it just goes into a pattern. Then the MLA calls them, which leads us to where we are now. In the manga the Endeavor internship happens after this battle is over and the fallout is brought up a few times. I'm most disappointed with them cutting out Re-Destro's introduction, which is in the form of a TV commercial advertising his company and is good for world building. However much of his screen time and development are cut, such shedding tears when Curious dies.

Don't worry Zamber, you shouldn't feel bad for empathizing and rooting for the League members, after all one of Horikoshi's intentions while creating this arc was to humanize the villains as much as possible. There is nothing wrong in liking evil/morally questionable characters, it's fiction and that's the fun of it. PD: but besides all that... There's no wonder why some things happening right now in the series don't seem to make sense to you, it was already confusing enough in the manga but the anime it's making it even worse with how bad this second half of the season has been adapted.

I love the way u pointed out how u feel bad for them although they are villains, u got the same reaction as me, in my opinion, the reason the league of villains are villains is "understandable" cause they all had tragic backstory but (obviously) it does not give em the right to kill people and all... (i would love to see like toga being a hero along with ua, twice getting therapy, i don't think shigaraki or dabi would be heroes so... jail :> spinner and the other one turning good at the end of this show, i am not a manga reader btw idk how the story goes)

Where the hell did you learn "don't sympathize with villains"? You're aloud to sympathize with them, that's what you're supposed to do. Not doing it just because they have done bad things means you got it all wrong. Sympathizing for other people regardless of what they've done means you have compassion. I don't condemn serial killers but when I hear about all the bad stuff that has happened to them I can't help but feel bad, if you don't than you lack something very important. So I'm glad you do sympathize with them but don't go thinking that is wrong cause it's not.

While this was a great episode, sadly it didn’t quite cover Toga’s past as well as the manga did and just glossed over it. Maybe it’s also because Toga’s opponent had that reporter like accent, and I couldn’t take her seriously. But there is definitely more to Toga’s story. Medi not the Bad Guy, did a awesome cover on Toga in one of his videos. But basically Toga’s quirk extends to more than just her meta abilities, but to her personality as well. Her quirk gave her a fascination with blood and anything bloody or beaten up. Finding it cute, she had a completely different outlook on life. Unfortunately it was one that nether society, nor her parents would accept. Always rejecting her and telling her to act normal. The problem was Toga had a completely different definition of normal. Because to her if you love something, you want to be as close to them as possible. And for Toga, who could literally become them by drinking their blood, you couldn’t get closer than that. Unfortunately all her parents did was send her to quirk counseling which only hammered in further how unexcepted her brand of normal was. Forced to wear a mask of normalcy and repress herself until her emotions burst through one day. Drinking another students blood and going to the underground were she could at least act how she wanted al be it on the run. There’s really nothing wrong with sympathizing with Toga here. Even the devil needs sympathy sometimes. And we’re all looking to be accepted for who and what we are. Toga represents this well. As well as Yami Kwai culture, and her own bisexuality.

Hello! I know you have a lot of diffrent series going right now but I would like to make a recordation! Its an anime called Bungou Stray Dogs, its my favroite one! Its really popular in Japan but sadly not as much in the US. Its really good though it is a bit long with right now around 40 episodes across 3 seasons and a movie but I would love for you to see it, even if its just in you free time!
