I would say Dallas needs a couple of players on the team now with this type of mentality, but these "TYPES" of players don't come around too often, especially in this "WATER DOWNED SOCIETY" the world is today. TOTALLY, TOTALLY "NEUTERING" MEN IN TODAY'S WORLD. SMFH. ANOTHER ONE TO THROW IN THERE - at least for me (even though it's a different topic): Is the time (the '90's) the Cowboys played the Eagles - AND THEY BEAT DALLAS. Growing up in Philly, I was there during this whole era, and I remember ALL THE S**T TALKING Eagles - and their fans - were doing. WR Michael Irvin didn't have a particularly "GREAT GAME" - especially up to his normal standards. Then word started SPREADING FAST through Philly that 5' 7", 154 lb. CB Mark McMillan had "SHUT IRVIN DOWN." The only person that was LAUGHING harder than me at this was Irvin himself. LOL. Irvin said, how are you going to "SHUT ME DOWN" when you had a SAFETY sitting over top of me or rolling to my side every time I ran a route on you. That's NOT "SHUTTING A WR DOWN." The real, real funny part was when Irvin told him to go get back on that box of Lucky Charms leprechaun! LOL. NOW THAT'S SOME REAL, REAL FUNNY S**T! I'm never, never, ever, ever going to forget that one! LOL.

I liked the scrappiness Ferguson showed last year.. I'm not putting him in Irvin's class but it's a start.. that mentality needs to spread through the entire team now
@dcoopthemann8 ай бұрын
@tiddiesattic Yeah. Ferguson shows me a little something. So does Lamb, A.K.A., G.O.A.T., and I'm pretty sure there's a few more, but it's just not the same. Irvin, in particular was the DRIVING FORCE behind those Cowboys teams. CHALLENGING the offense, the defense, special teams, and even coaches, etc. You just don't get that type of mentality anymore. EXAMPLE: Dak. I said from DAY ONE of Dak's 2nd - and DEFINITELY his 3rd. yr. (I gave him a pass his rookie yr., since he wasn't drafted to be the IMMEDIATE STARTER. things just turned out that way), MY "BIGGEST PROBLEM" with Dak is, he's too much of a "GOOD SOLDIER.", willing to go along (at least publicly. We don't know what goes on behind closed doors, etc) with anything the Jones' and the coaches put out. He needs to "TAKE OVER." PERIOD. FOR EXAMPLE: Last year against the 49ers in that playoff game when at the end of the game they had Zeke playing CENTER on that STUPID A** PLAY that all they did on it was EMBARRASSED THEMSELVES. Personally, I would've told those coaches, get this LAME A** PLAY out of here and give me a REAL PLAY and / or I would've changed the play in the huddle to a "REAL PLAY", but too often Dak just goes right along with what the coaches put out. Then his "SUPPORTERS" keep harping on, HE'S A "LEADER." Well, there's different kinds of "LEADERS" and the kind of "LEADER" he is at this point, Dallas needs "MORE" and "DIFFERENT."

The 1st TD Irvin did was a classic quadruplet (as you call them) play. As I recall it was a play-action to Emmitt and Troy hit Irvin to the outside who just shook off the db and took off up the sideline. jay Novacek was the blocking foil as Irvin weaved back and forth behind him getting leverage. Then Emmitt Smith shows up barrelling downfield from his playfake to get a piece of someone and Irvin weaved his way thru the last defenders for the score. A total team score that showcased how hard these guys all worked for each other. Thanks as always!

One of the dumbest things you can do is talk trash to the playmaker. The old saying don't poke the bear, for the playmaker i changed it up to "don't pull the ears on the P O Pitbull, it's not going to end well". That awesome LC.👏 Have a wonderful weekend!!

Who was the greatest trash talker in Cowboys history? These two are certainly in the conversation, but let's also acknowledge Deion Sanders, Randy The Manster White, Captain Crash, and though people don't talk about it, Roger Staubach is incredibly competitive and not afraid to engage in semantic exchanges. TLC for GM.

Not only trash talking but getting physical too, sometime to see who would back down first, but in the NFL you couldn't show fear, when I played football, back in the day, Jr. High and High School, there was trash talking, but not like these guys. I was one of the smaller players, I don't remember trashing talking cuz everybody else was bigger than me on the other team but thank goodness I had my teammates covering my six, I was a small WR and part time bench warmer, but I loved it. Like you said LC, it was part of the game. Good Video Sir. THE SARGE

Another excellent video brother. This is the difference between Michael Jordan and LeBron James. Irvin was the absolute heart of that Cowboys team and he reflected Jimmie Johnson style perfectly. Bryant was even more of a beast physically but not quite as stable mentally as Mike. I remember that Cardinals game. You know who else was like this James Washington just asked Jerry Rice

So I have a history of the Dallas Cowboys DVD from NFL Films. One of the extra features on it is an interview with the triplets just after Irvin got elected to the HOF. Irvin & Emmitt recounted that game against Lynch. Irvin was chewing out Lynch so much Emmitt said to him Michael, leave that boy alone. 😂

Michael Irvin ate him alive that 1992 week 3 game and from there on in the Cowboys had no trouble with the Cardinals when it came to playing them at home. There was that close game when Bernie Kosar was playing in 1993 when Aikmanwas hurt, but other than that, those Cardinal games were easily scratched off as a win when it came to those homes games.

Great video!! had such amazing raw talent & could’ve gone on to be one of the greatest & gone to the Hall of Fame. Romo knew how to get him the ball but it’s like Dez didn’t see the need to keep refining his route running skills once he got a second contract. Getting cut destroyed his psyche & he never rebounded. I thought he’d be excellent for 50/50 balls from Lamar on the Ravens but it didn’t work out. If Dez had refined his route running either Cowboys keep him or he lands on another good team & has a great career. The “dropped caught” pass against the Packers is quintessential Dez. If he’d focused more on the ball worst case scenario Cowboys punch it in from the 1 yd line & win. Drew Pearson & Michael Irvin made a living making catches in the biggest moments. And yes Deion Sanders committed DPI. Flag should’ve been thrown & Cowboys become only team to win 4 consecutive SBs when they beat the Chargers like the 49ers did. That Cowboys dynasty was a machine. If Jimmy Johnson doesn’t leave Erik Williams doesn’t crash his car & 49ers don’t get the early lead off a Switzer coached team.

I really think Irvin was the first of these modern trash talking diva type WRs. He laid the blueprint for people like TO, Moss, ochocinco. I know there may have been one here and there before him, but he was the first “big” star of the lot I can think of, Dallas bias aside.

The guy you have to worry about most is the guy that never says anything. Barry Sanders was that guy. There was this once that a guy from the other team kept going on at Barry about how he was going to shut him down. The next play Barry Sanders completely faked him out and took it the distance. There are guys you just keep you mouth shut when you are playing against them. Another one was Larry Allen. You didn't trash talk to Larry. Then there were the stories about guys who trash talked to Andre the Giant. In both cases those guys only did that once.

Hey LC, possible video suggestion and opinion wanted on a topic. The Dan Quinn situation. Everyone knows he threw the game so why isn’t he being fined, suspended, or banned from the NFL. Everyone knows players are suspended and banned for throwing games why is this flying under the radar. And this was a playoff game and we were serious superbowl contenders. He ended the season early jumped to his job in waiting and even poached some talent. I don’t see how this is not a serious controversy.
