His play and speeed probably helped develop two shell coverage, qb spy, and 2 shell hi-low packages that are now common. Those qb's in half those sacks thought he was in coverage and he was so quick on the rush, that the recievers have not even made the break in their routes.

Crazy watching these formations in raltion to todays game. He could have played any defensive back position.
@asssm89Сағат бұрын
He was more of a strong safety than a linebacker, but that was not really a position in pro football at that era. Imo he was like a mix between a SS with his speed and depth with corner support, but he tackled and blitzed like an LB.

Not disagreeing but stats aren’t everything cause if they were Dak would be worth every penny of his contract and he is definitely not worth a fraction of it. Statistically he should be a Super Bowl bound QB every season but he’s not

You are correct, sir. Romo is a highly underrated QB. I watched him when I lived in the DFW area. Because he carried the Cowboys and they were often behind, his bad moments were when he tried to fire it in traffic like Farve and Rogers but did not have their arm. You were kind not to mention how many times Owens and other receivers dropped easy passes.

Take another running back first lol. The whole concept you’re talking about here requires an elite OF and a QB who can throw consistently over 30 yards. Dak isn’t that guy by far and our OL can’t get the job done. Dak finds success passing over 20 yards because his receivers can make catches on his inaccurate throws. Dak is good but he can’t even sniff Mahomes socks.

I remember when Ron Jaworski was on ESPN doing a show where he ranked all the quarterbacks based on previous season performance. This was during the summer and I forget what year. He had Eli Manning ranked 10 and Romo ranked 11. Eli’s numbers were 19 td passes 26 ints. Romo had 31 td passes 10 ints. These guys on these shows are full of s**t when it comes to the Cowboys and especially Romo.

The part was left off that he also has to overcome the albatross that is his "GM" and owner. Jimmy Johnson was the only coach to win under Jones. He was the only one to beat the other teams AND Jerry Jones.

LC, I love you and your videos! I wish I could share your optimism because all I see is Owner, GM, and Head Coach Jones's next assistant coach flunky. Culture and discipline is set by Jerry not his assistant coaches. One thing all of Jerry's teams have in common since Parcells is sloppy football defined by poor game management, and pre-snap penalties that linger late in the season. They always make a lot of mistakes from turnovers to blown coverages right at the worst time. How many times have we seen first downs get called back because of an un-necessary hold or an off sides? All those teams lack a toughness that was inherent in previous teams. They fold up like a cheap chair. The only good thing I can see coming from this is this is probably Jerry's last hire but then I don't have much faith in Stephen either. Your analytics are always spot on, he's probably not a bad coach and your video did give me a bit more understanding of the hire.
@thelogicalcowboy2 күн бұрын
What up CJ! Yeah, I completely understand bro. You're a fan who has lived through the glory years and now to what this is today. Your Skepticism is justified. To be honest bro I'm still a Skeptic. But after I did my research I feel a lot better going into the season with this coaching staff than I have in years. I like the McCarthy hire in 2020. That turned out to be three of the best seasons that we put out in decades. But McCarthy's philosophy didn't fit well against teams like the 49ers. That was our downfall. Shotty's philosophy is a perfect fit against any team. Because it relies on time of possession. But I completely understand!! Appreciate you brother.

@thelogicalcowboy2 күн бұрын
@codysnead7762 Thank you for asking... McCarthy ran a West Coast offense that he received from the '80s 49ers. Shannahn runs the West Coast offense that goes back to the 80s 49ers. Dallas was never known as a West Coast offense. We've always had a Don Coryell Tom Landry-style concepts that focused on running the football play-action and vertical routes. Now did you learn something?

88 was always the set up to the touchdown or he was the "3rd and 12" guy getting a 14 yard slant to keep a drive alive in the 3rd quarter when they needed a score. 88 is underrated. Yes, Jerry Rice was the GOAT, Irvin would say the same, but 88 was clutch and did his job perfectly. It would be fun to see what he could have done with Dan Marino or Bret Favre as his QB though.

Loved your video and thought it was a good dive, however, I am not convinced Jerry hired Schott to bring back "culture". Jerry hires on HIS ego so while I hope it works out, I just don't know that it will. In fact if he wanted culture back he would have never fired SB winning Jimmy and he's been paying for that "sin" since. He is very Dan Snyder-like in his team approach and it's bottom line over winning, so expect much of the same to continue. Wahington did turn it around this year though so there is hope, albeit they did so after Snyder was no longer a part of it 🤪
