As a programmer I can say it's off lot of times. But it has such a small mistakes that are easy to repair... And i think it's due to its trained on small amount info (relatively) without understanding code input, output. This is especially visible in scripts, shell etc. Some mathematic equations when you ask to provide solutions are different every time and so on... BUT It's amazing option if you don't know about options, alternatives and ChatGPT can lead you to what to look for.

It still makes a lot of mistakes, sometimes small ones easy to fix, sometimes it's just totally off, but it's really good at bullshitting. It's really good for documentation and adding comments

@Stock Raising can't say for python since it's tremendously popular... But shell scripts are off, c is sometimes weird structure so it depends. I wouldn't trust it 100% of the time.

Similar tools are already used in the industry, ones that can write code from psuedocode-like prompts but it's not perfect and still needs a profficient programmer behind it to clean up the code and fix things it skipped over entierly.

I graduated years ago, but when I was in art school, participation is typically part of the course expectations outlined in the syllabi, since our profs want to see our project progress in-class and verify we're not just like, having someone else to do it for us (very unlikely the case). Same said for lots of documenting. I'm sure that practice is still being used today (online or not), but it's pretty easy to spot AI-generated images on the art side of things just in general. It's really all about the process, rather than just the end result.

From a technology point: the evolving of ai is fascinating and kind of cool From an artist perspective: this is terrible, there is no ethics or respect and artist were suffering enough beforehand...
@iMakeTheSpackle2 жыл бұрын
Eh I fail to see any real ethical issues here. These programs contrary to popular outrage aren't stealing anything. They use their database the same way a human artist uses their own memories of pictures theyve seen in life. Every piece of human created art at some level draws inspiration from other works theyve seen in life. Why can't an AI do the same thing?
@veskascito2 жыл бұрын
@@iMakeTheSpackle The main issue with all this new AI stuff, especially the text-to-image generators is that their databases often contain copyrighted material taken without permission. If the people training the AIs were to stop maybe some of panic will settle down.

It's still not quite there yet but AI tech is improving at an incredible rate and the interval between iterations is getting shorter as well. Forget about programmers, it's coming for all our jobs. Doctors, industry workers, artists, programmers, bakers, engineers, architects, service workers, all of us will become mostly replaceable. In the academic sector it will begin through tools that simplify work. A qualified person will still be needed to interpret the clients wishes, know what instructions to give and to correct errors. Then a new version will come out and it will be even better at understanding instructions and with lower error rates. Finally there will be a version that understands what the client wants on its own. For those working in production it will be somewhat similar, with the biggest difference being that the AI will be combined with general purpose robotics. Robots will be able to just observe tasks to learn how to perform them. All improvements can be shared almost instantly instead of training thousands of people at high cost. Work can be go on 24 hours per day, 365 days per year, with maintenance being the only exclusion, maintenance performed by AI robots of course. Companies and countries who refuse to adopt the technology will be out competed by those that do. It will become a race to the top where companies will have to fight harder and harder for their customers, because who will buy products when fewer and fewer have a job? I think this is one of the most pivotal moments in human history. We will either achieve something close to utopia, or a dystopian hell. Every successful revolution throughout history has depended on the simple fact that the rich and powerful still need the commoners as laborers and soldiers. With AI the possibility of providing a high standard of living for every human, without the need of work, is definitely there, but so is the possibility of the mega rich solidifying their positions of power in ways that will be impossible to oppose.

Honestly, it's wild how close to (but also so far from) some genuine transhuman sci-fi shit we are. If it's as good as it is now, give it another 10-20 years, and we're gonna have to start asking some serious questions about what it means for a machine to have, somewhat autonomous, rudimentary human function. Like, you might not be able to say it's comparable to a human, but you're gonna be hard pressed to say it isn't at least on the level of, say, a dog.

I tested out ChatGPT for the past hour or so since you guys mentioned it. The capabilities are super limited even with keywords like "rephrase" or "in the style of." To illustrate, I wanted the AI to make a song about Super Paper Mario first in the style of Taylor Swift and then in the style of Renai Circulation. ... the result was the same both times. Also, 'adore' was the best rhyme the AI could think of for 'adore'... how...

Just like planes, give it time and the capability will eventually expand its limits. Our technology has gone through a lot of development, and I’m sensing that within 5-10 years A.I will be a predicament for some careers. People won’t stop continue to develop it. We can feel outrageous but still A.I will be there and continue to thrive.

@@solsticeequinox8688 If AI allowed us to work less while still getting paid enough that would be great, but that won't happen... Economist John Manard Keynes predicted about 100 years ago that because of the advancement in technology we'd make goods and services more efficiently, wages would go up and that his grandchildren would be working 15 hour a weeks with better lives, but the rich people want never ending growth which isn't achievable and they exploit us, if that wasn't the case then AI wouldn't be AS bad, possibly, I can't say for sure though because of uses I can't predict

Ais are pretty bad at staying in topic and calling back to earlier things they've written, since school essays usually require you to to have abbreviations at the beginning and end, with each segment referencing the previous: I think it would be quite noticible or at least require a lot of editing to get decent grades. Also a lot of people are severely overestimating the capabilitys of ai, since they are only seeing what gets uploaded on social media that has often been refined for hours and then further selected by other users sharing what they find impressive. You can Eg compare which posts by nostalgebraist-autoresponder have high note counts or are even shared on other sites with reading through the blog
