Hydra players strike me as the types to enjoy city builders. They micromanage everything to hell and back and require 17 hours of preparation to do anything major, but what they set into motion is pure art.

Don't speak to me or my 12 deadly children again. Seriously this mech is a headache from the DM's side of the table, don't be surprised if you suddenly become the target of enemy focused fire.

Oh yeah, Summoners in Pathfinder can do something equally as stupid, by trading out their Eidolon for a bunch of miniature ones... and there is the fact they are a class dedicated to summoning creatures, if I were a DM I'd definitely put limits on the number active at times, since Swarm builds can be stupidly powerful unchecked no matter what game it is. (sort of like Lysithea in Three Houses just she's a tactical nuke)

@@TheFearsomeRat Yeah, the action economy is where the real balancing point lies in a TTRPG. Although LANCER's drone rules are a little easier on that front, being conditional triggers. I have outright banned swarm builds from my tables just because I don't want to spend *ONE HOUR* resolving a *SINGLE PLAYER'S* turn. Other people want to play the game too.

Lancer deals with this relatively well since drones don't take their own actions and act more like terrain effects and it takes an action each to deploy them so if you are deploying them in numbers you won't be doing much with your actual mech.

DM'S GUIDE TO HORUS MECHS: HYDRA Definitely the easiest one to talk about, the D&D hydra is pretty much identical to the mythological one, except (as usual) that it's a full species instead of an individual monster. Hydras are dangerous as _hell_ because of their potential for multiattack, which can get rapidly out of hand in basically every system of D&D ever devised, along with being Huge and poisonous and having all kinds of sharp bits, and this gets worse the more heads they have. Having said that, they _do not_ like fire damage, and pretty much every D&D party can muster some of that. They're also pretty much pure animals in terms of intelligence, so you'll usually run into hydras either in their natural environment out in the swamps, or as the favored nasty of a Big Bad.

At 0:49 I noticed you used D&D’s Fifth Edition variant of the Hydra. Still a terrifying monster in itself once you look at its stats alone.

If by solitaire you mean solo play (like Ironsworn), I don’t think any of those modules exist. Solo play is possible though, I’m trying it!

@@kylestanley7843 Mainly the damage of the drones. Shredder drone only deals 1 kinetic now instead of 1d3 kinetic Puppetmaster's Electropulse deals 2 energy damage now instead of 1d6 ap energy damage Assassin drone now deals 3 kinetic instead of 1d6 kinetic damage and has moved to hydra 3 instead of hydra 2 Tempest drone now deals 4 energy damage instead 1d6 Energy damage. It is also available at hydra 2 instead of hydra 3.

@@cold8578 That makes a lot of sense. Interesting to me that they switched the assassin drone and tempest drone though, because I can see myself being perfectly fine without the superheavy _and_ the assassin drone. Now I can very easily get everything I want from just the first two license levels.
