Only a quarter of that over here but yes it's amazing to watch the bois in the same hobby. Joey must've channeled his inner half of this blood cuz his strikes aren't perfect but they're surprisingly good. The other two did what everyone else does starting off: focused too much on their right arm and each hit becomes love taps rather than swings.

OMG This episode was so nostalgic for me! I did kendo in high school and that was my intro to Japanese culture! I was one of two girls in the club. The debate over whether or not to practice "freedom kendo" (as my sensei called it) or to wear underwear is ancient and fraught with superstition. Kendo is also the slinkiest martial art because the armor absorbs so much sweat. Whenever I tell Japanese people I did kendo, they almost always say "ahhh, stinky!" in surprise, lol. It is a hell of a work out, running around screaming and swinging that sword over and over. Loved watching the boys go through a kendo practice. That game with the balloons was hilarious, I had never seen that before.

That is a lot for a "first" lesson. But you guys did pretty good. With a few months I think you guys would be pretty good and train good fumikomi and suriashi Tips: A lot of movements with the shinai are done with the wrist instead of lifting up the shoulders. It will be faster and more efficient. For the men strike imagine just lifting your fore arms slightly and controlling the shinai with your left hand. After hit just try to run through, hitting the back of your head is illegal and if you run into them into tsubazeriai (clashing guards) hikiwaza (backwards striking) isn't that hard if you try it a few times. (If you don't include fumikomi). Distance is something you will have to get a feeling for. But the essential is that you begin form tips touching 😳. After taking one step you should be perfect distance to hit while taking another step (with fumikomi).

Man, this was fun! I did some kendo back in uni, and it's crazy how quick some of the senseis are - I've been on Joey's side of being spawn-sniped a second into the match! I can also confirm it's sweaty as heck, even before you put on the armor. Trash Taste boys did surprisingly decently for their first time - the stiff wrists were the most obvious show they hadn't really done this before, but it was a great effort for a pretty intense sport.

I would love to see you guys do a trash taste special on traditional archery in Japan like the sports anime’s ‘tsurune’ I think it would be really fun and entertaining .

No matter how the bois feel about the quality of this special, I can definitely say that we can feel the love and effort you guys always put into every videos, I mean the intro alone is a BANGER. I'm glad this didn't become an actual lost special. ❤️

That was hilarious. I swear Joey just did the best by being aggressive. As for the National champion thing, I had South Africa's as my sensei. Needless to say training was painful and brutal. Though you guys did well given you went from nothing to armour. It took me like 2 years to get into armour and that first session felt like getting a concussion from one of the sensei literally every time he hit me. You guys definitely had the spirit though, even if Connor was oddly suppressed and the balloon battle was a glorious reminder of my old shiai days. Good video tho

I used to do Kendo back in the day! The only part I didn't enjoy was having to travel super far just to take the ranking tests. I was sparing on par with 1st Kyu and even 1st Dan on a good day, but I was still totally unranked. I'm so nostalgic seeing these guys do Kendo! Edit: I love how Connor's Do Strike is just completely wrong but he's being praised so much for it.

The struggle is real I’ve gotten to 3kyu and am the second highest ranking student, but when I was ranking up people were asking why I’m better than the 1kyu people.

I was gonna say I'm early, but the first thing I heard opening this video is "Are you naked right now?" and Joey screaming as if he just got spanked. Just 2 seconds in. 🤣

Despite the fact that as a kendoka I am cringing so much right now (too much right arm, not keeping a straight back, bashing instead of swinging the shinai 🤦‍♂). I am really glad to see kendo getting some love from our Trash Taste boys.

13:57 the edit 🤣🤣 The reveal that Mr.Koyama (national champion) is coming up to fight with the Dark Soul intro is honestly really cool, him setting up in perfect seiza like a cut scene before fighting a boss. 1v3 and still won is actually nuts.
