@@Hana9916 oh man, lol, ive done that too, that was the LAST time i baked by volume, lol, it just never works, you GOTTA bake by weight. going by volume just takes far too much guesswork, like should i pack it, how much should i pack it, and then at the end you just always end up having to guess on how much extra flour you need......baking is a science, im personally more fond of the "art" of other types of cooking, the kind where guesswork doesnt tend to ruin your work, LOL.

Joey definitely has the broader palette here. For some Japanese curries, they actually have chocolate added to them, and it's also a lifehack to enhance the curry flavor (give it an extra something something) to add cocoa powder. I was a skeptic too, but after trying the Japanese curry + chocolate combo, I was sold.

When I was a kid my parents used to have lots of Maruchan instant ramen in the house and I would grab a pack of my favorite flavor (pork) and crush the noodles in the bag and pour the seasoning packet into the noodles, shake and enjoy the dried seasoned noodles. It was glorious, and it makes me so happy knowing that it was enjoyed similarly in Japan.

I saw that dynamic in this episode too! This time I feel bad for Joey 😔 cus I sometimes find myself in the same situation, which makes me sad 😅 .. Connor&Garnt had much to say today , and in places they only talked to each other. I kinda understand tho- it's not always, but sometimes one just becomes a third wheel in convos, and listens more than speaks 😌 .. (ofc idk how he felt about it really, he looked kinda chill, and if he really was, then I'm glad for him 🙂 .)

Kasutera is a type of sponge cake originating from Iberia. I'm not actually sure if it was us Portuguese or the Spanish who came up with it originally (i'd probably guess Spanish, since the original name is Castela) but after Portugal established trade with Japan in the 1500's, thats one of the things Japanese adopted from us. The same goes for konfeito, tempura, pan, etc. Japan and Portugal go way, way back. EDIT: I wrote this when they were asking themselves where it came from and when I go back go play the video they have notes on it 😭

@@rapthor666 no Spanish where introduced to it by the Dutch. (during the Spanish Dutch war) to then the Spanish people introducing it to Portuguese people and they in there turn brought it in to Japan. talking about a long trip. the funny thing is that after the Portuguese the Dutch where also allowed to have a trading post in Japan and most likely they would have recognised it as there cakes and helped it grow in Nagasaki (and later on the rest of Japan)
