This is how I take a "mental health day." When most people think about mental health days they usually think of just staying in bed, eating ice cream, and watching a sad movie (which is also a valid way to take a mental health day. If you need to get those feelings out then you do you!) When I take mental health days I don't like to stay in bed. I feel like taking a day for yourself is good to help you get the stresses out of your life as well as take the time to heal yourself. What do you do when you take a mental health day? Let me know!

I can't take Mental Health days because my parents do not care about my feelings or the depression symptoms I have been dealing with for around 2 years now, and if I did they'd just tell me I'm lazy or yell at me. I have been thinking of going out on walks every week, but even thought I'm 15 I am the only person in my entire class basically who is not allowed outside on my own. It'd be difficult to go out somewhere without many people around though, because I get really anxious around other people, so I don't think it'd really work even if I could...

I am sorry that your parents feel that way but your feelings do matter and I want you to know that. If you are not allowed to take a whole day for yourself maybe practice some self care techniques into your daily routines. I think going for walks is a great starting point! Maybe take a bath once a week or do some art or another hobby that you enjoyed. I was in your same boat growing up and what I did was keep busy and make time for things that i liked to do when i was feelings stressed or anxious.

Hey, I hope you're doing better now. I felt the same way and then one day my mom surprised me when she'd realized I was showing symptoms of a depression relapse, I was ...actually I am extremely stressed and frustrated with just about everything going on. It's a Friday when I should be in school, class is actually about to start for them and I'm taking a day to heal, and get back on my game. I'm optimistic, but also, I'm drained and ready to be better 💕 much love to you and everyone else out here, we will get better, we will be successful, we will be strong, because we are strong, and all we can get is stronger

Having plans always makes me really anxious. Even if it is with somebody I love dearly and/or I am doing something I love. It gets so bad that a lot of times I end up cancelling them or not even making them at all

My mental health day is tomorrow and my mom and I are going to the lake to meditate. I've been really anxious and can barely drive for 15 minutes in the car. So anxious!!! And I like minimizing my room but I can't the rest of the house because I'm only 13. Every day I am on the verge of yet another panic attack. I'm so tired of this💤💤💤

I love playing with my dog, taking a relaxing bath or shower, doing an art project, and playing an instrument. I like keeping busy because it helps me not think of those negative, depressing thoughts

I am the kind of person who gets really depressed if I feel like I haven't accomplished anything in a little while, so then I'm too depressed to actually get up and go and do things. This video helped me to realize what I can do when I take a mental health day so I don''t start to feel like I'm not accomplishing anything with my life and start the cycle. Also, tip for myself and people who are still with their parents, tell them to help you get up and do a few productive things for your mental health so you don't give in to giving up.

I feel so anxious doing anything that involves leaving the house and seeing people, even when it's something that I love to do. The important thing is to push past it so that your brain can learn it's not a threat. I think you're doing a great job 💙

Kristen, you're totally awesome, thank you for pointing out that a mental health day doesn't have to be about staying in bed and watching a netflix marathon. I've been wanting to go through and organize my bathroom so thanks for the inspiration. About the dentist, I refuse to get my teeth cleaned or anything else without them giving me the gas stuff to mellow out, it is the only way I get through, may cost a bit more but totally worth it =)

I get very anxious when I have to be somewhere on time. I was anxious today going to my first therapy session ever because I couldn't find the office! Luckily I found it in time but I was seriously freaking out about being late ! 😜 I'm really excited about starting therapy. Thanks Kristen for telling everyone how important therapy is and how it's not a weakness. You are part of the reason I went today even though I was scared.

So I know I'm super late on this but I just want to say it is so nice to hear someone talk about the anxiety even when you're doing something fun. I feel like that all the time. I'll be getting ready to go out with one of my best friends who I haven't seen in way too long (sometimes bc I keep cancelling bc of my anxiety). And I'm still anxious, not about seeing the friend but just about being out in public. Which I do all the time. And then once I'm out in public I'm like "this isn't bad at all!" But I get home and I get anxious all over again next time. So thanks, Kristen. It's good to know other people feel like that and if anyone sees this and ever needs to talk, you can reach out to me. I know my videos so far have not been mental health related but I plan on making some because it is a subject very important to me.

My anxiety does make me really anxious no matter what I seem to do. Though it does help that my best friend is someone who has dealt with mental health a lot longer, and she completely understands when I'm unable to do something or when something makes me feel really uncomfortable.

I get anxious meeting people so I don't do it coz I'm too anxious but i think mine is like a symptom of autism that I have since I'm getting assessment and dignosis . don't worry Kristin your not alone in your anxiety.

I get anxiety like that all the time. Like my boyfriend and I meet up halfway between our houses and I always have these little fits of panic even though I love spending time with him. I always worry that he won't like something about me, even though he's always super supportive. When I take mental health days, I grab whatever money I have, my favorite hoodie, and my long board and go out all day to anywhere. Maybe the library or a movie or something like that.

I can't have mental health days cause I live with my parents and they don't know or care that I'm depressed so when I try to have one they just yell at me and say I'm lazy which makes everything worse :(

I am so sorry to hear that :( That must be so hard. You can always take a mental health day on the weekends or when no one knows about it. Or you can take time out of your day everyday and dedicate it to self care. Do one thing everyday that helps your mental health like go for a walk, clean up your space, journal, etc. A mental health day does not have to be spent in bed. It can be spent doing things that make you feel well :)

Loved this💕 for me though I need to figure out other things to do besides being on screens most of the day because when I'm not hanging with friends one day, the only things Ive thought to do to take a break from my phone is spending time with my dog, touching up my room and working out a bit when I'm not lazy until my parents come home from work XD im in need of a new/better routine. Today maybe I'll go through my clothes/makeup today and clean out my desk. Haha thanks :)

I get anxious all day and my doc just prescribed diazapam as it's getting unbearable to move out of the house even going to see my best friend I can only tolerate 30mins before I need to go home again. iv done a massive clear out of my home recently which helps with the restlessness xxx

I do get anxious on the silliest things ever lol. when I used to go to my therapist at school, she told me that organising your room help keeping your head from thinking about bad stuff. so when you're organising your room, your subconscious starts to organise it's thoughts as well.

YES YESYESYES I get so excited about seeing friends like going out with them or them coming over but like the hours before the get here to pick me up or whatever my anxiety goes from like a 3 to OFF THE CHARTS and then AS SOON as I'm with them I feel completely fine and I'm always like "what even was the point of the anxiety" and this happens like 3 times a week ugh so annoying but at least In not the only one😹😅

How I take mental Heath days starts when I just can't get out of bed in the morning and be around anyone. So normally (because this doesn't happen a lot) my mom lets me stay home and I clean and play on my bass and sing and go to the park and do stuff that makes me happy because I feel like I can't be that day.

and about the anxiety thing, I get anxiety before doing something active, and when talking to someone I don't know very well. Like I do Kendo (Japanese sword art) and it's really fun and it's tiring and I always feel great afterwards, but I get really nervous driving to the studio. And my voice gets a little shaky and I stop halfway through sentences when I'm talking sometimes.

well if that helps you feel better than thats fine. If you are doing that to cope with your emotions I would suggest doing something that makes you happy and makes you feel good about yourself so you can find a way to get out of bed!
