This might be the most upsetting story yet. Richard survived the unimaginable only to be further plunged into a dystopian nightmare by the medical system. May the poor man win every suit.

I see a brave young man. Intelligent and well spoken who will hopefully make the best of his life from here on in. He was horribly treated both by his family and his “affirming team” and he deserved none of it. He deserves so much better. I hope he makes a good life for himself.

5 minutes in and my heart is broken for Richard. He was failed by so many over and over again. I truly hope he can manage to find healing and peace after enduring so, so much that nobody should ever have to endure. He is so strong for being open about his experiences for such a large audience. This interview will save someone’s life. Thank you for telling your story, Richard.

I think we have been really shaken by the loss of faith, it provided a framework to contextualise suffering, gave us strong families and community. You don't have to believe in God to see it has left a hole that as yet we have found nothing to adequately fill. I'm glad you're doing ok. ❤

Richard's life story is so heartbreaking to hear, probably one of the most tragic ones I've heard so far... He was failed so many times by institutions and society despite the many red flags. I wish him all the best in life ❤The road to recovery will be hard and take a lot of time but if you put your mind to it anyone can accomplish astonishing feats. It's interesting to hear Benjamin be extra soft spoken and clear in this interview, so much care and empathy directed toward Richard via screen to screen.

Nigerian males, from many tales I’ve heard, do seem to have big issues with “toxicity”; it’s a pattern. I thank the guest for his honesty. Many claim CPTSD, but he definitely has it. With the many guests who mention sexual abuse or molestation, I wish they’d be more specific; I think a lot of people who are being abused, need specific examples, because they don’t realize that they are being abused.

Especially since many of the predators who abuse and exploit them as minors behave in such "compassionate" ways and fill a void that is not beong filled by their parents so the victim believes they are responsible for trusting the predator. Its very convoluted and needs to be explained better.

Very wise words, Benjamin! *We get healed by helping others!* It's _mystery_ how it works, but it _does._ By going outside of ourselves and being enclosed in our own pain, in order to help others deal with theirs and help them heal, something happens in this process, that we get healed ourselves! That's very true. You also gain maturity and emotional stability through this, by helping and serving others. Again, it's 'magic'. Or grace, rather. But it works.

It's so important that people understand what can be going on in a child's background to influence their behaviour, mental health and development.... My heart goes out to you. Thank you for sharing this. I really hope you can get the support and resources you need to recover fully from this and know what a beautiful valuable human you are and fully deserving of a long and fulfilling life. I have my own experience of childhood trauma and know how hard it is to advocate and fight for yourself and to believe in yourself and properly love and value yourself, but I promise it can and will get better, you just keep searching for the right support and keep letting go of the negative stuuf and the nay sayers... it's a long road, but there are so many who will help and support you. Why do you refer to anyone as person of colour? How is that not just saying coloured people, it’s weird to refer everyone who’s not white as that. It’s designed to create a huge us vs them in both sides. Making a wide range of different cultures and races one grey blob of “others”. This isn’t meant to be rude towards you, just a critique of the term and it’s usage.

I remember when the Baltimore riots occurred, and it was discovered and reported on that the place had generational truancy at the third-grade level. Meaning that, the parents could in no way...help the kids with the common core math that was delivered at that time. And someone commented on that and getting help for that generational 'back to school' for the parents and got pilloried on Social media. And the solution went nowhere. I was very moved and very sad by that display of hatred by its politicians who ruled the area. I think he is dead now.

@@Connie-ty5zb If thats true than why did Richard's attorney state in the opposition to Kaiser's petition to compel binding arbitration they filed that: "Binding arbitration substantially impacts Mr. Anumene's rights in a negative way."? I’ve had non-gender related surgeries. We have free healthcare and I had all my surgeries in day surgery and went home the same day without anybody assisting me. (I’ve only had various internal things removed or cauterised) I removed my own staples because I couldn’t be arsed to go to the doctor for it and they were pinching me at work when bending down, so they had to go. It’s not that big a deal. Yes I have scars from the incisions and staples. Also pretty normal. I would definitely not subject myself to vaginoplasty though. That’s too high risk and I have a vagina already. I hope you get the therapy you need to reorient your focus and live a fulfilling life! I don’t think it’s helpful to ban elective surgery for people with mental health diagnoses or without a home care plan, because then people with gender dysphoria will just not seek mental healthcare and they will have to lie about having a home care plan. I know, because I lie about not going home alone after surgery 😅 It may just have to be a personal responsibility if you are an adult with adult rights and responsibilities.
