When I travel internationally, I always bring a ‘pharmacy’ with me in my carry-on. Nothing is worse when you need a med on a plane but don’t have it. I always includes meds for anti-nausea, anti-diarrheal, pain reliever, cough meds, airborne, band-aids for any blisters, chapstick, saline for your nose to combat dry air. I’ve had to use all of them on various trips.

I started doing the same after a trip to Israel in 2017. My stomach wasn't feeling good and in the Tel Aviv airport stores they didn't have any familiar brands of over the counter meds (like Gas-X or even Tums). So now I bring small quantities of over the counter meds in a school pencil bag whenever I travel internationally.

@@sherryschumacher1881 dear Sherry .hello there 😊 my name is Tammy.I am from Israel. I do not know about a pharmacy at the Ben Gurion Intl Airport but there are tums tablets to buy here against stomach burns and other tablets that calm your stomach or further down 😊. BTW Not in every country the tablets have the same name of course (it depends on the brand), but they do have the same substance that works.foe cure.😊(I'm sure you know that). If you're coming over again ill be glad to help you with what ever you need😊 so you'll have a superb 👌time with traveling and good memories in Israel 😊 🇮🇱

Hi Laurie, I am Going to England in late September. I have one of those “belts” and I never thought about using it for travel. Great idea. And the Tylenol is essential. I get a headache every time I go to Europe. I take no liquids with me now. I stay with a friend and so everything is there for me. And I bought one of those foot rests. Glad to hear you like that. And there are compression socks that don’t cover your toes and zip up. Easy on, easy off and can be worn with sandals. I love your videos. I learn a lot from you. Thanks.

I love your videos!! I have most of the items you use. I just ordered the converter you have. I checked the link. 😂 I love my scarfs. If you do get a scarf that the zipper doesn’t blend, find a seamstress to change it out. My mom did mine. I always make sure mid trip and the last Airbnb has a washer and dryer. I like to fly to Europe after 4pm, that way I can sleep on the plane. When I fly home I leave in the morning. It really helps the jet lag. I don’t take a hair dryer. My hair is butt length. I wash it at night and it’s mostly dry by morning. I’m Chickasaw and I wear it braided, down or tie it in a Navajo knot.

I love these tips! I travel back and forth to Italy, from Canada. It is a long flight as I fly from Hfx, NS to Toronto, Pearson. which adds another 4 hours to the flight time. All together it is about 12 hours total travel time. I like so many of your tips! I love that jacket, the compression stockings, the tummy band to hold valuables. I adore the wrap skirt and the 3/4 sleeve tops. As you probably know, if visiting the Vatican, St. Peters Basilica, the Monks will turn you away if you are not modestly covered and have a lightweight headscarf. I usually take .25mg of Aspirin just to use as a mild blood thinner but I like your compression stockings. Thank you so much...I think I am a savvy traveller and then I read one of your KZbin posts and you do it better...lol...

These are great tips - thank you! Pre-COVID, I traveled frequently for work. I still fly to visit my mother, but that’s just a 2.5-hour flight. Getting ready to book business travel again for the first time in 2 years, to Dubai in November. That will involve a 14-hour flight with 1-hour flights and layovers on each end and then I’ll have to lead a 2-week workshop. Trying to plan in a way that will minimize jet lag!

Laurie, you do an amazing job on your videos and information. I was traveling a lot back and forth from CLE to LAX to see and work with for several years with my daughter before covid. So, I had to get very travel organized. I’m mid 50’s so I needed to make it as easy as possible on myself also be ready at a moments notice. Anyway, I have learned so much from you. I use so many of your ideas even just for our road trips to and from our little 2nd home on the lake and now we have a boat and I’m going to be using so many of your travel ideas to equip the boat with essential. I have been really good with these things with 20 years of doing travel to the lake with our kids when they were little but with all the new things out there you truly do an amazing job explaining your ideas! I now share your videos with my adult kids. Thank you… keep your videos coming. GREAT JOB!!!!

we are tentatively scheduled for another scotland trip in about a year. another thing we found very handy on the last trip was we got bulkhead seats for the outbound leg. it was great because we could get up to stretch or use the lavatory without disturbing anyone else in the row. the drawback is no seat in front to stow the personal item under.

My trick when I end up in bulkhead is to stow whatever I'm going to need during the flight in a drawstring bag and tuck it under my seat, since the planes I've been in bulkhead on, there is a spot under the seat that's actually in front of the area where the person behind me's underseat bag goes, so it doesn't actually take up any of their space, and I can still reach it without having to get out of my seat; I stick my waterbottle in/on the pocket on the wall in front of me, either inside the pocket (if it fits) or clip it onto it (I always have a carabiner on mine).

When I travel I always put my passport and ID in a bag like a Ziploc bag, keeps it from getting wet and easy access so that I can take it out and have everything together in one shot. A lot of times I would fold out the print out of my ticket as well plus a copy of my itinerary. I usually put them in like a quart size bag and it works brilliantly. I can roll it up and put it in a little waist pack or Crossbody. Another thing I do is like a travel size meds because if you got an upset stomach or anything in the middle of flight do you wanna make sure you have some thing to take a Tums Pepto whatever. I also carry a small first aid kit and since I’m super certified I also carry the two a mask so that way there I can breathe in without their air coming back once they breathe. Copies of everything I need when I have and I take one with me in case anything happens I have all the contact information written down so that way there if needed and emergency they are able to get a hold of me somebody is able to get a hold of my family. There is not a safe in the room, I put my valuables hidden away where people wouldn’t think. Believe me there are a lot of nooks and crannies the people don’t think about when they’re hiding their goods. Also when I’m charging everything have everything right hand in case of an emergency I can grab it all at once and be out the door including a change of clothes because if there’s a fire in your hotel and you need to get out you need to have access to your stuff. They having a small bag ready to go you can just grab that and head out the door. I always recommend having a pair of slip on shoes your slippers that were there you could slide your feet into them. You also want to make sure that you have something comfortable you’re sleeping in that that way they’re in an emergency you are prepared because I know some people like to sleep without a undergarments, I always recommend get the breathable fabric material that you can wear is undergarments while you sleep so that way there in an emergency you’re not heading out the door with nothing on underneath. And God for bid if there’s a fire and you need to get off the clothing you’re naked. My daughter and I are traveling to France/Spain for her high school end of June.

@@susanterry8024 If my carryon and checked bag suitcases were just a little bigger, I could pack everything inside my checked bag one - I have 3 suitcases (1 very small, 1 smaller-than-standard-carryon (I think it's a 19"), 1 just-barely-too-big-to-be-carryon), and the smallest one fits inside the biggest one, but it doesn't fit inside the carryon, and the carryon doesn't fit into the biggest one, so I keep the smallest inside the biggest, and store everything else inside the carryon - TSA toiletry bag, packing cubes (all stored inside the biggest one), travel toiletries, backpack (I only have one, but I use it seldom enough that I can keep it packed away when not using it), extra luggage tags, wheelchair accessories I only use when traveling, overnight bag, etc. - and I try to keep them organized bottom to top by biggest to smallest, so that makes it easier as well.

I learned from a Girl Scout back in the day that you should fold the dirty laundry exactly as you fold unworn clothes. This saves space and reduces crumpling even if you are going to wash them after. I find it interesting that you talk about different items for "international travel". To many of us, the US is a foreign country! Apart from the different electric outlet systems, the risk of theft or finding yourself in an unappetising lavatory is just as great at home or abroad, whichever country you are starting out from!

An excuse to get the mini sewing machine out and little shopping on Amazon for latch clips and looking out old bags to cut out pockets and zips. Reusing old lanyard buckles and sewing it to neck pillow etc. also maybe thinking of crocheting a sleeve for my suitcase just to identifying it and little protection for under my transparent cover. Who knows, might start a trend 😂 Safe future travels to you and all, thanks again for your fantastic useful tips and info videos, appreciation from Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 ❤

I don't have compression cubes, either, but the way I fill mine, they basically act like them. I also chose the set I have based on the measurements of my suitcase and the size of each cube in the set (my suitcase is something like 19", so the biggest cube I own is a medium, because that's the biggest size that fits in my suitcase - I've got a medium, a small, and a slim of each of those, and together, they fill my suitcase perfectly, with just a little room to spare).
