I tried slippers like that and they took up too much room in my knapsack as i wear size 10. I switched to the Nufoot ballet flats from Amazon. Made of neoprene so they don't absorb anything ucky in the washroom, they just slip into a baggie when not in use. They came out of the washer beautifully and are ready for their next trip. Thanks for reminding me why I could not read Geisha, Jen!

I've been watching your videos for a while. Thanks for sharing the BCozy neck pillow. I just used it on a flight back from Paris and it worked so well. My search for a travel pillow has finally ended. and now I make sure I have a "cabin bag" since its so hard to access your personal item in those economy seats. Like you, I love all items related to travel.

This was a great follow-up! So happy that you got real sleep on an airplane! Yes! Bags for trash always go into my under seat bag. I learned that when flying with little kids. Even on relatively short flights, oh the detritus they generate! I always feel mildly claustrophobic in my seat and having a nest place to put all those scraps is essential.

I fly longhaul regularly. My #1 items are disposable plastic gloves to wear to toilet and leggins + tshirt + underwear in my carry on. Why? Because if luggage doesn't arrive, stuff gets spilled on you (other passenger's vomit, turbulence during meal service, your seat is wet when you get on the airplane...😱) Sadly all of those things have happened to me.

If you don't have one of those small vanity trash bags, or a ziplock bag to use in the pocket of the seat in front of you, look for what we used to call a barf bag and use that for your trash. Almost every seat has a disposable bag for either a diaper or for air sickness.

I’m flying from Western Australia to Calgary in July. Serious long haul! 😳 Currently planning my packing and carry on. Thank god we’re flying business class because we’re traveling with golf clubs. I’m looking for a travel hairdryer that will work for 110v power. My Dyson didn’t work last time with an adapter and I don’t want to carry one all that way for nothing. I’m worried I’ll get to the hotel and they’ll have a pathetic hairdryer or, my worst nightmare, one attached to the wall 😱 Should I bother taking one?

I’ve gotten a couple of ideas for my next long haul! An easy trash option is dog poo bags. I keep a few in my flight back and they fold so flat, they take up no room! I also collect small bags specifically for this purpose. The flight attendants appreciated it.

A collapsible mug with a screw lid was very handy to not spill drinks. It's a good idea if you do intend to try to get some sleep to buckle the seatbelt over your blankets otherwise the hostesses will wake you up when there is turbulence. We didn't take an empty water bottle with us as we intended to buy a bottle at the airport however on our return there was a massive queue and we were rushed through security and couldn't find anywhere to buy water quickly enough, but I did notice there were plenty of water taps so next time I will definitely bring an empty water bottle with me. A set of travel cutlery (plastic of course) was also very useful as my daughter dropped her cutlery on the floor and the hostesses didn't come back around for a very long time so she was able to use my travel cutlery set. A small torch as well to find things in your bag when the lights are out. Great tips thanks x
@mindbodyhome102
@mindbodyhome102 6 ай бұрын
The flight attendant wouldn't have to wake me for turbulence because a) I would be awake already because I can't sleep on planes and b) if the medication for flying assistance did manage to allow for any calm restful moments, the turbulence would end that quickly. Do most long haul flights have seat back entertainment?

Great tips on travel! Side note on an important topic: Compression socks should be a MUST for everyone! We lived in Ramallah, Palestine for 3 years from 2012- 2015. We flew via El Al airline one time to Czech Republic and back. Never again for that airline! Ugh! Loved Czech Republic! Won't go into whole scene, but because of the severe lack of any leg room for even short people like myself and husband (5' 4"" and 5' 5" respectively) we were a mess. I had cankles upon arrival - elephant ankles - like I've never had before. It was scary!

I have a question about your liquids bag. In your packing video, you showed a clear zipped 1 gallon makeup bag that you always use for TSA pre-check. I've heard that international flights often don't accept these because they are too big (ie: Japan prefers a 1 litre bag). Did you have any trouble with it when coming home?

It’s a tough question to answer because obviously if the budget allows I would absolutely upgrade. Having said that I’ve done many long haul flights in economy when the budget didn’t allow and I certainly think you can be comfortable if you plan accordingly! We have a trip to Greece coming up and could spend our money in an upgraded hotel OR first class tickets but not both and we chose the hotel as that’s a lot larger percentage of our overall trip. I hope that helps!

I’m glad you didn’t read Memoirs of a Geisha. Memoirs of a Geisha is a racist, fetishistic, and inaccurate portrayal of geiko. The white man who wrote it violated the wishes of one of his sources to remain anonymous. She actually then, as an empowering reclamation wrote her own memoir as a Geisha called Geisha, A Life. Way more accurate and not a disgusting racist garbage book such as Memoirs of a Geisha.

So did you come back with any stationary? At least tell me if you visited any of the shops. Funny thing about long haul and trash. I use it as an excuse to walk the aisle, as a diabetic I make sure I get up once an hour and stretch and get a few steps in. I just take my trash to the their bins there. If they are not busy in the galley, then I walk forward and backwards, for a min or so. This is usually when people are asleep.

I bought some foam ear protectors, you roll them up between your fingers and stick them inside the ear canal. I learned about them when I went to a gun range. They are called foam ear plugs. Nine bucks for 60 pairs. I got 38 DB, that is decibels. You can choose how strong you want them. Since I rarely sleep on a flight, I planned to roll up my sweater or jacket around my neck. I experimented with that. If you roll it up and wrap it around your neck, it secures your neck a little bit. It is also free.

I also keep my passport in a little ziploc bag. Be sure to carry a printout of your flight verification. I went to the UK, and on leaving to go to France, in a car, at Dover, the border control guy wanted to see my flight verification. He said that every time you go through security you need to show it. Although I had a stamp in it from Heathrow already. I felt he was yanking my chain a little, but these are people with no sense of humor. I think it is a job requirement.

Thanks! I bring a few small trash bags. One of them is to line the seat back pockets while I fly…..who knows what was in there before!🤢

I have the Travelon neck pillow that is similar, it doesn’t have the Velcro, however I keep it together with a large hair scrunchie - just used for flights to Vietnam and back - slept really well

I am new to your channel and happened upon you while looking for a new personal bag to take on an upcoming cruise to Alaska. I did purchase the Away bag you recommended along with several items that I had never thought about. I am really enjoying your channel and was wondering if you have any hints for packing for a cruise?

You can use your phone camera (selfie mode/front camera) when you don't have a mirror.

Yeah except for on a dark airplane you really can’t unless you have a tripod because I can’t do my makeup with one hand and there was no place to put my phone that was high enough to see my face 😂

When you sit in the bulkhead seat where do you put your backpack/personal bag?

You have to stow it in the overhead but only during takeoff and landing. During the flight you can just have it on the floor

Thanks for sharing this update. I know you said your Rome trip won’t be filmed, but I sure hope you do a packing video for that. We are going on a Mediterranean cruise next year and adding some days pre and post cruise. I would love to see how you pack for your trip.

Random question: What were the ziplock of paper towels for?
@JoyfulLivingwithJenLefforge
@JoyfulLivingwithJenLefforge Жыл бұрын
In Japan they don’t have paper towels in the bathrooms and the hand dryers were all turned off during Covid. Also helpful to have if you spill anything during the flight (which happened so I was glad I had them)

Hi! Did the neck pillow get in the way of your headphones and vice versa? That’s my hang up in buying a neck pillow. The headphones are the most important for me.

It worked beautifully and I was able to manage the Bose headphones, ridiculous eye mask AND the neck pillow. I would practice in advance 😂

I'm flying to Southern Italy with my family on a tour with friends. I came upon your helpful channel this morning (sleepless night) and enjoyed it. Thank you for your reviews. Previously, I bought similar items for the trip. A foot sling and seat pouch organizer were recommended, so I'm going to give them tries. Have you used either?

I use my foot sling all the time. I’m short and have bad back pain and it makes flying tolerable
