Whether it's a 3 hour flight or a 16 hour flight, I pack my flight essentials [cell phone, nasal spray, medications, lens case (with solution in it), eyeglasses, gum, tissues, Shout wipes, antibacterial wipes, hand sanitizer, face mask, eye mask, small hairbrush, etc.] into a sports fanny pack that I'll wear if airline not strict, or put into my personal item if they are. Once at my seat, I strap it around the back of my tray table. It doesn't interfere with the operation of the tray table, everything is safely within reach and not falling onto floor, and there's no need to use the yucky seat pocket except for trash.

I love the Trtl for long trips; for me, it really works when I sleep. And it is so small and lightweight... nothing like a blow up or prestuffed neck pillow that can be awkward to deal with once you arrive at your destination.The Trtl easily squishes into your suitcase when you don't need it. I also love the Napwrap which is a tiny thing that supports your arms without an armrest (so wonderful when traveling alone) and can also be used as an eye mask. Finally, while I like the book light you have, I LOVE my Kindle paperwhite. It has an adjustable backlight so you can read in all light levels from pitch black to beach side. It also carries dozens and dozens of books on it, and can even be used as an area light in a hotel room.

I need that hoodie for traveling. Out and about, it’s great for different weather. Everyone’s body is different. I’ve definitely learned this by talking to people. My friend buys a neck pillow at the airport, then dumps it when she arrives. Going home, she does the same thing. It’s only $15 each way. I was on a flight, and someone had one of those little reading lights. The flight attendant made her turn it off because it was bothering her neighbors, something to keep in mind. I bring nose spray. A new bottle for each trip. It will flush germs, etc. while on the flight, and in airports. Also, always bring antibacterial wipes. I also have them in my purse, sometimes restrooms won’t have what you need. Some airlines will provide a tiny tube of toothpaste and a disposable toothbrush for use on the flight. I use it once on the plane and once when we get off into the airport. Love the idea of toothpaste tablets!!!

I prefer wired earbuds to airpods, but they don't work with phones that don't have a headphone jack. just fine for seatback screens, though. I use Sephia brand, they don't tangle, and my first pair survived three years of yanking them out multiple times a day. as a guy I use a jacket for my "flight items" carrier. it has 4 big cargo pockets and a hidden pocket in the placket that I carry my passport in. I carry my phone, kindle, anything I would normally have in my pants pockets, (except my leatherman micra) a couple granola bars, my earbuds, and I can drop anything I pick up in the airport, as well. we bought Mrs K a neck pillow before the last international flight, and she didn't use it. addendum: I wore my compression socks for the short haul flights last month, and it was nice. also made it easy to slip the shoes off and on for security.

My favorite long flight item is my eye mask that connects to the headrest. It holds my head up, covers my eyes and lets me sleep peacefully.

For a long haul flight I need a neck pillow but only the one that is taller that holds my head up. It comes up past my jaw and there is no comparison with those blowup or short ones that help give you a crook in your neck. I don’t bring it for short flights or only a few hours long, has to be 8 hours or longer.

Your recommendation the Travelon theft-proof gear was spot on. We got a cross body bag for my wife and a fannypack for me. The Blondo boots, on the other hand, totally sucked. They're very tight in overall width and the all important toe box. I found them to be way overpriced for their quality.

Please do a video for those of us who wear hearing aids...noncharging on an international trip. I'm deaf in one ear and must wear a hearing aid in the other. My questions include if I need to report this as a handicapp, I cannot hear well far away from the flight instructions, is this a possibility to getting a seat upgrade. Many concerns as I've not flown since having my hearing aid and will be flying to London from Oregon in the fall. Appreciate any tips so as to relieve my anxiety. Thank you

Great ideas as always Laurie. Do you have a video or tips for people taking two trips on one? I’m going to New York City for 3 days on February, then to East and South Africa for 3 weeks. Packing is going to be a real tricky situation 😂

For packing to come home, take all your dirty clothes and fold them. I found they take up way less space than just wadding them up and who cares if they wrinkle, they’re dirty. You can also presort them for laundry when you get home. I put mine in a shopping bag then put any clean clothes in a packing cube.

Great advice! Thank you! I have a few favorite hacks: 1. I put on my “flying fuzzy socks” while lining up at security. Once cleared, I take them off and put back on my regular socks and sneakers. I get all cozied up on the plane and pull out the flying socks and put them on again. When I need to get up, I take off the socks and slip into my sneakers. Moral of the story… the inside of my sneakers won’t get all gross and dirty. 2. I wear prescription glasses. A must have is my eyeglass case to put them in when I sleep. I do the same at our accommodations. What a nightmare to have your glasses broken! PS - I also travel with a tiny eyeglass repair kit and several glass wipes. 3. An RIFD blocking travel neck pouch. We’ve used neck pouches often, but I just bought a blocking one today. My passport, credit cards, DL, cash and a small pill box with several days worth of my meds fit in it perfectly. In the event of an evacuation, I’ll shove my cell in there too. I’ll use it at our destinations as well. 4. ONE container with all the little snacks! So easy to pass around with travel partners too. 5. A travel pouch of Clorox wipes and several disposable gloves. We wipe down our zones and also in the bathroom 🤢. Really easy to ball up the wipe, take off the glove inside out and throw away. Germs are bad! Happy travels! ✈️

Please make a video about business travel tips and tricks. When you have to walk off the plane, and into a taxi to a meeting or presentation. Also best formal and business shoes for plane rides, etc. Thanks! ❤
@TravelTipsbyLaurie5 ай бұрын
Hi, I am not sure there are any other tips for business vs other seats. I would have to think about shoes for plane rides. Are they business, nice restaurant, water-resistant? So many factors. I love supportive shoes so that would be key. Can you describe more of your needs or questions?
@mariakern67934 ай бұрын
I had a lot of business trips in the past, but I guess, for now the rules have changed, at least in some countries. It still depends on your company though. But I see much more women wearing sport shoes in business exhibition events etc. where you get on-off the plane and must be moving a lot. In the past I used to use some slip-in with medium heel and close forepart for flight cosiness when longer flight when foot might swell etc. , because you need to have shoes with closed forepart for business meeting in many countries / cultures.
@mariakern67934 ай бұрын
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie I guess, the question was, what kind of shoes would be appropriate for business ladies on long flights, where you probably cannot be wearing sports shoes at arrival when you head direct to a meeting etc.

I ditch the foam of my pillowcase and stuff it with some of my clothes before leaving home, then after I get to the hotel I rearrange those clothes in the packing cube for easier access. Saves a lot of space and it's just as comfy as the neck pillow itself. Also bring an eye mask and ear plugs. I've had someone snoring loudly next to me and it's just as annoying as a wailing baby.

Hi Laurie. Love your videos. I’m a first time flyer. Was always afraid to fly but I’m finally going to get on a plane. Thanks to your videos I know what to do and what to expect. But I have one question. I’m planning to put my jewelry that I wear in my bag until I go through TSA. Do I do the same with my Apple Watch or do I put it in the tray with my cell phone. Thank you. Enjoy your summer.

I wear a cape…. It is what you would consider bulky. But I have used it for years. It is also a blanket. I have a couple of them one is thin. The other one is all wool and lined. Deciding is sometimes difficult. Where I am going, time of year, and most of all I consider whether I’ll need it on the plane for a blanket or a pillow for that matter. I would say at this point I use the light because it can roll up into a smaller bundle. It’s usually enough when I’m in the plane just a little extra warmth is nice. Being autistic I really need is my cat or my dog laying on me…. Not an option😊

The newer scanners are flagging dense areas on your body. I've had a belt with a plastic buckle and also a money belt set off the "alarm".
@susane95143 ай бұрын
I don’t wear a belt or jewelry to the airport. After I go through security (TSA pre-check), I put them on in the restroom or wait until I’m at my destination. I am not going to place my jewelry in an open container on a belt with people all around. 😮

I think one thing to remember, international flights provide meals and drinks. So unless you have dietary restrictions you may not need to worry about packing food onto the plane :)

I pack with kids! Snacks, they can have them when they want and/or if the food is not of their preference. Nd you avoid crisis 😂. I'm a coach i usually travel international not really looong flights but 5 hours with 8 kids with all ages sometimes first flight, snacks its their confort, balance between some chips because KIDS, cereal and granola bars, nuts, some crackers, posicles or gum for takeoff.. i pack a ziploc for each of them and everyone happy.

The only bags I have are overhead type luggage that’ll lock while I’m away. 😫 What do you suggest I do? Edited: My carryon security with locks are of standard size but I wanted smaller but those bags don’t lock.
