Left the US and moved to Boquete some 9 months ago. Never looked back. No camera can capture the rainbows accurately. My house is up in Jaramillo Centro and my deck has a million $ view of Volcan Baru. During the dry season the bajareque, a mist from the north comes through and I get brilliant rainbows delivered to my doorstep. Saw my first toucan today. Life in the cloud forest. If you have a chance, come visit.

Thank you for the video, and Happy New Year's Eve! My wife and I are planning a Panama visit this coming Spring, as we are also planning to retire there. In our research so far, we have heard about the Expat areas in Boquete, David and Volcan. One of the things not mentioned about Boquete is the amount of rain they get. I messaged with a gentleman that lived in Boquete for 18 months (he now lives in Panama City), and he told me it rains most of the year there. So, if you are not someone that is into rainy weather, you probably will not like that area of Panama.
@beasleyfinds
@beasleyfinds Жыл бұрын
Happy New Year! In my video Why are Americans Moving to Panama I discuss the rainy weather and my perspective on it. I'm from the NE USA and my feeling is that I'd rather deal with the rain than the snow as I get older and I don't mind all the fresh flowers it brings. Definitely have to live it for a while and see if it's right for you. I'd never recommend anyone to make a huge upfront commitment to a single place. Hopefully you find the sweet spot and have great success in 2023. Best of luck!

`great video, i miss and think of panama daily!! its a must go, Panama is one of the coolest countries in world!! one area that is pretty amazing is Santa Catalina, its is a small town with amazing people and great diving and restaurants. side Note in Bocas del Toro - ONLY take registered water taxis especially at night, my friend and made a poor judgment call and hopped into a 'Taxi" out side one of the local bars and he then stopped in the middle of the water in the dark and gave us an ultimatum, give him all our money or swim, it was an easy decision. there is water taxi stations with actual water taxi's, please use them!!

CORRECTION. Panama's narrowest point is about 50 miles wide...where the USA built the Panama Canal. Nice video. Thanks for sharing.
@beasleyfinds
@beasleyfinds Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. I see conflicting information regarding narrowest point. Some sources (that seem credible) say about 50 km (not miles) and others (admittedly) do say 50 miles. For my purposes, I measured using Google Earth and got about 60 km (~37 miles) as the crow flies. I guess it depends on how you measure things and whether you're flying or driving. In either case, it's pretty damn narrow! Thanks for your comment! -Beasley

@@beasleyfinds I stand corrected. You are absolutely correct. My Dad (rip) who was an Airborne Ranger in WW2 in the Battle of the Bulge always used that expression (as the crow flies). The shortest distance across the isthmus is about 30 miles (50 km), from the mouth of the Nergalá (Necategua) River, which flows into the Gulf of San Blas on the Caribbean shore, to the mouth of the Chepo River on the Pacific coast. Nearly as narrow is the portion of the isthmus traversed by the Panama Canal.
