After taking a break from Europe Vanlife, we are on the road again but this time in Mexico with Nick from ‪@IndigoTraveller‬. This series we are exploring the Baja Peninsula, making our way from Mexicali to Cabo San Lucas. I did, and I m forever thankful that you lot made me know of this. Since working full time and already taking care on my own of 2 kids, I do not have time to book any therapy for myself in "regular office hours" (or I would have to take unpaid leaves all the time). Love road trips. I have 2 favorites: One a trip up highway one in California, all the way up to Washington then down the middle of the states. The other, a loop in the Southwest through Arizona, Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado and New Mexico

I have so many great road-trip memories! My favorite has to be Chicago to Tennessee on a motorcycle with my hubby and best friends. Such gorgeous scenery and amazing views everywhere. Cherohala highway is by far some of the prettiest scenery ever.

OK Emma I am right there with you not knowing that Mexico was considered a big wine producer so now I must go to that region and check out their wine! That ritual because of the full moon was really cool. Mind boggling how 10,000 Old carvings in a cave are still something we can see today. I love seeing those things especially when I go to Puerto Rico and see all of those historical drawings that the Taino Indians left behind. I gotta ask however that 12 hour strip of road, did it have somewhere to go to the bathroom? Or was your business being done in the desert? Lol just need to know so I can prepare 🤣🤣

You swirl the wine to let it air out a bit. Some wines taste awful when you first uncork the bottle. You need to let it breathe a bit. Stick your nose in the glass and smell it after you've swirled it. Then taste it.

OMG You guys travel with one of my YT Legends! And it is so weird to see him in a chill out travel like this, haha omg I loooove this, why cant I make multiple thumbs ups... Also, you guys seemed to have done it all wrong to ask permission to the mexican desert, you have to ask permission with the Cactus of the gods, the allmighty Peyote sheesh 😁 Cave paintings from those days usually depict 2 things: either visions and wishes (wars won, animals killed for food, prosperity) or tallies of what they experienced (this year we had so many calves born, and so of those crops) etc. depends if the place was holy back then or housed. And caves were not so much a "child like feel of going to explore and see" back then, it was just the best natural available shelter both for weather conditions, heat or cold, so as soon as there was one, it was obviously used.And yea, its the me Archaeologist writing

Did the same journey on a motorbike forty years ago. The Baja was dirt poor then, it was almost culture shock for me and communication was tricky as barely anybody spoke two words of English. The only tourists on the road were me and the girlfriend and a guy driving a bright yellow VW Trekker. Cabo San Lucas had a bit more going on but even that was small back then. Caught a ferry to the Mexican mainland and visited the major cities. Good to see a bit of economic development on the Baja, it must give the locals some hope.

My friends named their daughter Catavina. Born 9 months after a stay at that hotel. Ensenada to Catavina was my section of the Baja 1000 race. All dirt the way I went, of course.

Well, we once took the M1 to a wonderful place called "the North". We saw the spectacular desert of Luton, spacecrafts and ancient kings in Leicester, we had fantastic Nepalese em... food.. in Loughborough before we met a friend in Derby and finally ended in Nottingham.

Road trip - done a few! Favourite one was the most recent, partly because it was one of the most madcap. One week - Cornwall to Perugia and back via Brittany, Loire and Limousin, with the return trip being a 14 hours straight drive, via Mont Blanc tunnel, ending with the Gendarmes stopping us and searching our car as we arrived late to board our ferry.... thereby hangs a tale for a campfire night.... LOL

We love road trips!!! Baja was our favorite road trip so far. So much so we spent 7 weeks there at the beginning of the year and then went back for 3 more with our friends to show them around.

£67 for a night in a tent! Camping has got expensive, a decent hotel is only £38 in the UK and one may bump into Lenny Henry. Lol. Just don't expect room service or inclusive full English breakfast though.

Hi Beans. I'm from Melbourne Australia. We travelled over the Nullarbor from South Australia to Western Australia which is also crossing the desert but at times you have views of the Great Australian Bight. There is also the Nullarbor 90 mile straight, 146.6 km straight road!!!! It's a 2 day journey with the odd motel along the way, one way.🙂
