I have always founded this kind of covers of covers most fitting for the game. I think that most likely how everything sounded on the Eye: cozy and very natural, not very clear, just a bunch of friends playing around the campfire.

BTW, in case you haven't heard already, go into the game with as little knowledge about it as possible. It’s such an amazing piece, and outside of the ending scene, it can only be heard played all together if you’re very far away from all of the planets. I remember being blasted away and, feeling so hopeless while so far away from anything else in the solar system, pulling out my signal scope only to hear all the travelers playing together.
