The people from North America who are saying the weather is gloomy should be aware that the UK is as far north as Edmonton in Canada, which is getting close to Alaska and is further north than most Canadians live. The downside is the short daylight hours in winter, the upside is the long daylight hours in summer. In June you can rise with the Sun at 4am and enjoy daylight until 10pm. At this time of year it is something to look forward to.

Hi Jess and Chris, hope you are well my friends. Firstly thank you for putting to bed the myth that the UK weather is always dull, gloomy and wet ☔, so many visitors to our shores think it rains all the time but saying that Sunday does look wet and windy 😊. This was another great edit Jess combining scenic views with great drone footage. I have learnt more about my country watching your vlogs then I could ever have hoped. Thank you for educating me twice weekly which has been so enjoyable and a privilege to watch my friends. Have a good Sunday and see you soon ❤ xx.

They may be just a small relic of the original castle but being on the grounds does make you visualise the people that stood in that very spot all the centuries ago. Thank you for another wonderful upload video. I love watching our American "cousins" visiting our fair Isle. But it gets really annoying, "we went to London". "we're going to London". " Our Week in London". "What we did in London". "sightseeing in London". BORING! London is not a true representation of the UK as a whole. It's like a sperate state in itself, nothing like the rest of the UK. It just happens to be the capital, where all the major amounts of money gets spent is all. I was overjoyed to see the title of your video, LINCOLNSHIRE! Brilliant. I have only been through there myself twice. Great to see you visiting there. At 16:43, whilst standing on the bridge, the wall of the building to your right, it had blocked up windows. In this case the reasoning is not apparent. But the blocking of windows, in the past, it had reasons for this, sometimes financial. Your presenting and narration are fantastic too. Please keep your videos coming, they're much appreciated.

I appreciate the 'greyness', as a protective lair from the sun, and somehow it is familiar and comforting to an old Brit. The houses 'joined up' are terraced, and in the north are a familiar sight - very often built to house employees servicing local industries. They can be very damp and cold in winter, and would have had a fireplace in living rooms and bedrooms, and typically have a larger footprint than many modern houses. Converted they can be a good investment. All swans are the property of the Monarch. Another interesting video with lovely drone footage showing the flatness of Lincolnshire. Habitually on Thursday and Sunday I look for your vlog. Thanks again. Cheers ! Sheffield South Yorkshire.

Shame you didn't park up at the 1:15 point on your way in to Louth so you could walk through Westgate Fields and on to Hubbards Hills. It's only about 1/2hr end to end but you'll be hard pressed to find a prettier short walk anywhere. Comparatively speaking Lincolnshire is very sparsely populated (even compared to Scotland outside of the Highlands) and as such retains an old England feel to the place. Something you don't really get these days in a lot of places with the hustle & bustle of modern life and cosmopolitan population growth. Definitely a hidden gem.

There are some people that suffer from SAD, seasonal affective disorder, it is not pleasant and the gloomy low pressure weather is not good for us. You can use a lightbox to counteract the effect, but when it hits you, it`s very very difficult to be cheerful. It affects your work and your whole life, so that is maybe why you hear people complaining. It feels like a lid has been shut on top of you until Spring comes. I love having seasons, it`s part of living here in the UK, it keeps us focused and looking forward.......You could look at Stamford, a very pretty place, used a lot to film costume dramas and television dramas.

I was most interested to see Bolingbroke Castle. (I'm too not certain how to pronounce it. Perhaps bowling-brook.) The most famous thing about it is who was born there, about 1366 I think. Henry of Bolingbroke was born into our royal family, being the son of John of Gaunt (=Ghent, in Belgium), Duke of Lancaster, fourth son of King Edward III, by his first wife Blanche of Lancaster. (I think the castle was where an aunt or great-aunt lived, so Blanche went there to have her baby. ) At the age of nine Bolingbroke's cousin, Richard of Bordeaux, became King Richard II. (Quite frankly a nasty little psychopath.) Henry of Bolingbroke was a strong lad, who would grow up to be a considerable warrior; I gather Richard, nearly the same age, was weedier. The relationship between the two was fraught. In 1388 Henry was one of a group of nobles who rebelled against Richard II, but he later made peace with the King. After Richard's wife died, Richard went off the rails; using a pretext, he banished Henry from the country. Henry went on a so-called Crusade against heathens in Prussia. But when in February 1399 John of Gaunt died, Richard confiscated his lands, so they didn't go to Henry, and went to Ireland. A few months later Henry landed in Yorkshire, and got a lot of support. Parliament met and deposed Richard, and Henry took the throne as King Henry IV. Richard was imprisoned in Pontefract Castle, but a rebellion and attempt to assassinate Henry meant that Richard had to go. He was therefore starved to death. (No marks! ) Henry IV is remembered as quite a good king. I don't think he was a usurper, because the most ancient way in England is to choose the King that suits us from among the royal family. But there were many revolts, and the Welsh completely broke away for a while. Henry executed the Archbishop of York; he seems to have felt guilty about this, and developed a debilitating skin disease. He died in 1413, and is buried in Canterbury Cathedral. But all of this happens in Shakespeare, who wrote the plays Richard II, Henry IV Part I and Henry IV Part II! Among many magnificent speeches Bolingbroke is frequently mentioned. Henry IV was the first King for many centuries to speak English as his mother tongue. A cultured man, he loved and composed music.

Nowhere in the UK is much more than 70 miles from the sea, which is no problem for many types of sea birds. That is why they appear all over the country. There is no such thing as a 'seagull'. There are many types of seabirds, & numerous Gulls, but as all Gulls are seabirds you do not need to call them seagulls. All Gulls are seabirds, but not all seabirds are Gulls. There was settlement at Horncastle in Roman times. It probably the place recorded as Bannovalium, which means 'strong place at the horn', referring to a spur of land on the river. The English name is a translation of this, & the river is called the Bain from the ancient name. A public weighbridge is where commercial trucks get their load weights checked so that they comply with the law.
