We were part of Austria for 300 years, so the language is heavily influenced by German. That's why it's so different from other Slavic languages, and it also explains other differences where our customs are closer to German/Austrian ones instead of Slavic ones.

And we (Czech lands) were also part of Holy Roman Empire for 800 years, so that´s even more germanic influence.🙂

Just to clarify - the reason why Czechs and Slovaks split was mainly because of Slovaks - yes it was political agreement on both sides (no referendum or something like that), but Slovaks felt better to do better by themselves and I would say that the pressure to split was bigger from Slovak side.

You're NOT "Real Prague Guides" but it looks like you're trying to piggyback on their Channel name. That's not what's really going on, right? I mean, you're not even Czech.

that was quite a step from the ww1, you frogot how we were betrayed by the west in the ww2 and taken over by germany to how we got forced to be in the USSR after they split Europe with the west

I would say it wasn't the best way to go about things, but "betrayed" is not the word I would use. I do think Patton was correct when he said we should continue on into Russia and take Stalingrad. In know it sucked in Czechia during Russian occupation, but we (America) did help win the war. Russia lost more people than anyone else. It's a bummer, to say the least, that afterwards their imperialist actions screwed with so many people. Thing is Russia sucks, and it always has.

@ppyacek342 My comment wasnt about spitting on america or the west, it was simply stating the truth. And frankly i dont care what word would you use, i care what word I would use when describing history of my country. Iam glad i dont live in communism with russia but the fact that the west can be deceitful too is just truth. I stand only for myself, my family and my country, for noone else.

3:05 Ireland is in the EU also. That map has the EU countries in blue and Ireland in white which is a mistake. Ireland should also be blue.
