Tanzania is an East African country known for its vast wilderness areas. They include the plains of Serengeti National Park, a safari mecca populated by the “big five” game (elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino), and Kilimanjaro National Park, home to Africa’s highest mountain. Offshore lie the tropical islands of Zanzibar, with Arabic influences, and Mafia, with a marine park home to whale sharks and coral reefs.
Zanzibar, a haven with clear turquoise-blue water with artistically placed archipelagos, clean white sandy beaches dotted with palm and laced with a radiant sun, serving a picturesque escape from the everyday and the ordinary. My journey to crossing a top destination off my bucket list could'nt start any better.
Stonetown of Zanzibar, also known as Mji Mkongwe, is the old part of Zanzibar City.
This city is known for its historical importance in East Africa. Its architecture, mostly dating back to the 19th century.
It reflects the diverse culture, giving a unique mixture of Arab, Persian, Indian and European elements.
Yasco, my tour guide informed me earlier on how Tanganyika officially joined with the People's Republic of Zanzibar.
Some years ago ,The two countries Tanganyika(mainland) joined Zanzibar island to Form present Day Tanzania in 1964.
Forodhani is best to visit in the evening,
To watch the sunset and lots of bustling street life, the divers and the famous night market.
Right before sunset near the Forodhani Gardens, the locals entertain themselves by indulging in pier jumping into the shallow waters. It's iconic and wonderful to experience the creativity in how acrobatically they take off to execute this.
Forodhani Night Market
The fresh seafood and local delicacies, such as Zanzibari pizza are sold at that time.
Forodhani Gardens is located inside Zanzibar’s historic Stone Town, along the main promenade by the seafront. You can find it easily by just walking towards the seafront, ask from your hotel or any local, or check the location from Google Maps. If you are already done either guided or independently touring Stone Town then, you will know the location by heart.
Being in Zanzibar is actually a dream come true
And I love every bit of it.
Enjoy the first part of my vlog in StoneTown Zanzibar.
