Looking For an Old Friend in Stone Town (#27)

Stone Town, the gem of Zanzibar, has been well-known for awhile. Narrow alleyways, hundreds of years of history, the call to prayer blasting from loudspeakers and hordes of Russian tourists are just some of things you can expect to find there. On this trip my goal was to find an old friend who didn't have a phone. I'd have to dodge a million sales pitches along the way.

I stumbled across this channel and now it’s one of my favourites. I like how Tommy makes an effort to integrate himself with the locals. I must say, he is daring, fearless and unassuming. I think he takes a bit too much risk though. I worry for him at times. The locals love him because he goes out of his way to be like them especially making effort to speak the language. He respects the culture & the people & they respect & love him in return. Africans are very welcoming & accepting of others. I bet he won’t be this care free in South Africa & certain parts of Nigeria. It would be far too dangerous. They call him Whiteman affectionately. Not an ounce of derogation. Incredible. Well done.

Thank you so much brother for visiting our island here in Zanzibar and congratulation for learning our Swahili language as well you are good student who speak good swahili too. Okay today I would like to teach you a new words in Kiswahili that you wrote as ( music ) here in this video. So first place that you wrote music it was Qu-ran. when you heard a radio played Qu-ran . So I realized that maybe you don’t know how you May say that word. So word Qu-ran origin is Arabic names but in Swahili language we write it like this 👉🏾KURAN this is first word that I would like to teach you my brother and the second word that I would like to teach you is call Adhaan . Adhaan is a Arabic name as well but in English it’s known like Muslims call but when you want to say it in Kiswahili you have to add a ending of word Adhaan so it will be Adhaana . I hope you learning new two new words today in Kiswahili and i wishing you have a nice day brother . Welcome to Zanzibar
