I used this bag (edit: and only this bag) on a 2 month trip to Korea, and it worked great. I was able to fit: 2 full Peak Design small packing cubes, a fairly large tech kit (maybe a bit smaller than the Peak Design one), a 15” laptop, a 3L Peak Design every day sling (which almost perfectly matches the shape of the top opening of the bag when you lay it flat), packable rain jacket and sun hoodie, dopp kit in an Able Carry stash pouch, and a bunch of smaller odds and ends. Total weight was around 11kg, and while I wouldn’t say it was comfy, it was doable even on days where I was stuck carrying the bag for hours. I also climbed Hallasan during the trip, and this pack could easily hold my camera sling and enough food and water for an entire day of hiking (4L IIRC), between the huge exterior water bottle pockets and the internal sleeves.

I looked at the MR 2DAP today and I noticed that the back of the laptop sleeve is hard with absolutely no padding. Yet, none of the many reviews I have seen mention this as a negative. Laptop protection in this pack is very poor. The laptop should be surrounded by padding to prevent shock damage.
@1herjer882 жыл бұрын
by back do you then mean the part which is next to the persons back, or the part between the laptop and the main compartment itself?

Thanks for the thoughtful review. How would you feel about taking this bag on a flight as a personal item (not carry on) assuming it’s not fully packed? I know it’s larger than what is allowed, but I’ve never been asked to actually measure my bags before. This one is a bit taller than what I’ve used, but doesn’t seem to look very bulky as you pointed out. Thoughts?
@dannypacks4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching and for the positive feedback! I’m glad the video was helpful and that’s a good question! That’s true the bag doesn’t get too bulky but it is still pretty tall so my guess is it might be tricky to use as a personal item just because it would have a hard time fitting under the seat in front. Hope that helps a it and please let me know if there are any additional questions I can help answer about the bag!:)

Traveling Salseros Yeah that’s a good point. Would you say it feels noticeably bigger that the 24L urban assault? The advertised volume and height difference (1”) is small, but I know these numbers aren’t always accurate.
@dannypacks4 жыл бұрын
Good question! I’d say overall it does feel a good amount bigger not just the height but also a bit wider and then the molle webbing and straps just make it look more robust all around.

Great review! Because of you, Mr. Salseros, i've purchased my own MR Assault Pack 2 but a black one. Thank you so much! However, I have one problem with this bag. Each end of the optional hip straps it comes with is open and loose ended. It will easily be made undone during travel. This is very poor in design. How did they (Mystery Ranch) expect us to keep the hip straps from unraveling/sliding off've the tightening buckles?!
@dannypacks4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching and I’m glad the video was helpful! I agree the waist strap system could be improved but normally I remove it so I haven’t had too many issues thankfully. I hope you enjoy using the bag a lot and that’s awesome you got the black one, it looks great!:)

Not sure if I should get the UA24 or this one or something completely different as my office backpack, thoughts?
@dannypacks2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching! Both this and the UA24 are great all purpose bags, for office use I would lean towards the UA24 as it has a less tactical vibe and the size works a little better for day to day use imo. Beyond that these two there are a ton of bags that might be worth considering (aer city pack pro, alpha one niner Whitley, evergoods CPL24, bellroy transit Workpack). I don’t think those are necessarily better, they just have different aesthetics and layouts

I am torn between the 2 day assault and 3 day assault packs. To your knowledge, is the 3 day assault much larger, and can it carry that much more? And just for EDC and some light hiking, which one would you prefer?
@dannypacks3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching! I haven’t had a chance to use the 3 day assault pack but from what I’ve seen on their site and other videos it looks a good amount larger and I’m guessing it could carry additional items but for me this 2 day size would be my preference for the use cases you mentioned and even for some light travel. How's the size compared to the UA24? 3L doesn't sound like much but from pics and videos the 2DAP seems a lot bigger. Think the 2DAP is too big for EDC?
@dannypacks4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching and good question! I was surprised how much extra space the 2 day assault pack seemed to have and in addition to the extra liters I think the main compartment also feels like it holds more since there’s not a separate laptop compartment like the ua24. And yes personally I do think this would be a little big for edc and maybe a better size for minimal travel. Hope that helps a bit and please let me me know if there are any additional questions I can help answer about the bag!:)
